Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to take a quick look at the lug wrench with SAE sockets. The thing I like about this is that it does kind of combine a bunch of things into one piece, makes it pretty compact and easy to use and it just seems like a pretty slick idea. If you need to change a tire, got a flat on the highway, this makes it pretty easy to do that. Basically it's just going to give you a nice free spooling wrench to get that done quickly, has a pretty nicely made handle to make it easy to grip onto that and hold on while you spin that on or off. It also comes with double-sided sockets as well to work with a lot of different sizes.

So let's jump in, take a look and talk about the sizes that this is going to fit.I do like how heavy this is, the fact that it feels pretty well constructed. It doesn't feel too flimsy or anything like that. It is made of heavy duty heat treated steel and it does have a rust resistant chrome-plated finish so you shouldn't have to worry about it getting damaged or rusty on you anytime soon. The sockets that it comes with, you'll have a 11/16 and 3/4 on this guy and then a 13/16 and a 15/16 on this side. They do kind of bump it down so it helps you to figure out which side is which.

The smaller side will be the smaller socket size. Pretty simple configuration there. Kind of small writing though so if you are somebody who needs glasses to read fine print, that might be a little bit of a downside to that, but it is printed on there. It's engraved into the metal so it's not like it's going to rub off or anything.Whatever size you choose, just pop that on to the end of the wrench and then torque away. You can also place this at a couple different spots on this rod.

If you need a little extra leverage, you can slide it over to the one side and really crank on it to free a stuck bolt. Again, since it does have that free spooling handle, you can easily thread things on or off once they're loosened up. Of course, you want to make sure that whenever you're putting on that bolt or stud that you get it fully threaded by hand so you make sure that you don't cross thread anything. Also comes with a nice little carrying sack to stow everything away so it keeps it all together, keeps it from just rolling around and getting parts or pieces missing. It is a half-inch drive design so you can use these sockets for other stuff if you'd like. That's pretty much all there is to it.

We'll just slide this into the little satchel here. There's kind of a sewn portion for that cross rod and then our other components. We'll just slide to the end here. Actually, I think I'm going to put my free socket on the inside just to make it stay in there a little bit better. All in all I think this is a really smart thing to have with you especially if you're going to be out on the road pretty often. If you are doing any kind of long haul trucking, you tow a lot, it's just always a good idea to have some kind of backup for if you get a flat tire while you're out on the road. That's pretty much all there is to it for our look at the lug wrench from Performance Tools. I hope this video has been helpful in deciding if this is the right piece for you. We do have a lot of other emergency gear supplies here at etrailer.com along with a lot of other towing stuff as well, so check us out. Thanks for watching.

I have not used it yet, but this is exactly what I have been searching for. I needed a 1/2 inch drive so I could use a socket on wheels of a travel trailer. Regular 4 way lug wrench sockets are too thick and do not work. I really like that it comes apart a stores in a thin bag. It takes up very little space in the storage compartment of our trailer. Thanks!

Heavy duty. Works well in a pinch and is a storage space saver.
