Roadmaster Anti-Sway Bar Installed

Benefits of an Anti-Sway System

The Roadmaster anti-sway bar does for side-to-side movement what a good pair of shocks does for up-and-down motion. You will notice a marked improvement in your vehicle's stability as the bar works to balance weight transfer and reduce body roll. The anti-sway bar acts as a link between your vehicle's frame and its front axle, using the axle as a brace to more effectively balance the shifting weight of your vehicle as you maneuver it. Lubricated bushings allow just enough pivot and rotation to compensate for the pressure placed on one side of your vehicle when it goes into sudden maneuvers, hits crosswinds or encounters shifting weights.

The TruTrac System

Rut tracking occurs when your vehicle hits an uneven patch of pavement and is, consequently, pulled into that rut and off of the smooth pavement. With larger trucks and motorhomes, this problem can be difficult to correct because you have to work even harder to steer back onto the road. With Roadmaster's TruTrac system, rut tracking is a thing of the past. The unique Trac rod attaches to the front axle of your vehicle, essentially holding it in place to prevent jarring and any unnecessary shifting. In addition to minimizing rut tracking, the TruTrac system helps to end driver fatigue by eliminating wander, which is the "loose steering" feeling that causes you to oversteer.

Roadmaster Anti-Sway Polyurethane Bushings

Superior Construction

The Roadmaster anti-sway bar and TruTrac rod are both made of 4140 chromoly, a chromium and molybdenum steel alloy. This type of steel is considerably harder and stronger than the standard 1020 steel that is typically used in suspension applications. In addition, the larger diameter of the anti-sway bar increases its torsional roll stiffness. The result is a bar that is not only stronger than the competition, but also nearly 30 percent better at resisting sway. The polyurethane bushings and grommets used at the attachment points in both the anti-sway and TruTrac systems are durable yet flexible, ensuring that the system is neither so rigid nor so malleable that it becomes ineffective.

2007 Workhorse W-Series

Installation on my 07 W16 was not all that easy. I am 65 years old but have training and years of experience with mechanical systems. I would advise using a small hydraulic jack to hold the shock plate in place while replacing the u-bolts one at a time. The drivers side went quickly and very straight forward. A tungsten step bit makes enlarging the frame holes much easier than a twist bit. Every time I torqued the passenger side u-bolts they slid just enough to prevent the mounting plate from sliding on. I got it as close as I could and used a die-grinder with a large burr to clean out the somewhat crude holes in the mounting plate. On my motor home with 2 slide-outs and automatic leveling jacks, equipment was mounted to the inside of the frame right where the frame mounts had to go. On the passenger side I had to drill (drill press is best) new mounting holes in the supplied bracket to utilize one of the existing bolts and a lower hole for a supplied bolt. All of the bolts were a lot longer than necessary. All of the parts are over built if anything and disregarding the frame difficulties, I am quite confident the end result is very strong and should last a long time.

Haven’t driven RV yet, front axle track rod installed easy and feels heavy duty, can’t wait to take it for a ride. Highly recommend etrailer for parts and their service

by:

I ordered this with a roadmaster sway bar and sumo spring kit and it is not compatible in anyway shape or form with the sumo spring kit. Its brackets would occupy the same locations as the Sumo Springs. When I informed them of the issue they offered a refund but minus return shipping cost which in my opinion is unfair as I should have been warned. Beware this kit will not work if you have Sumo Springs on your F53 chasis.

by:

Easy installation took about 30 minutes.

by:

Competitive pricing. Quick shipment

by:

Works well on my Kodiac

ordered a track bar and it was not available right away so i called the factory and etrailer worked with them to make sure i got one right away, very helpful. usually i get etrailer orders in 2 days and sometimes i get them the next day. great people to deal with and the best prices too.

The product is very good. The people are friendly and very nice and very helpful. They even called me and offer their help. I received the product before the delivery date which it was great.I recommend this product and this company to everyone.

Drove to Maine in June in my used 1999 32' Itasca Sunrise for our first long trip. Felt like I needed to keep both hands on the wheel constantly. Very sloppy handling. Had Davis True Track installed in ME. Drove home to Florida in Sept. Handling MUCH better with very improve sense of control. Very pleased with the product.

by:

Install was very straight forward. Did require a 3/4 impact wrench that I did not have to remove U-bolt on leaf spring. (It's nice to have friends that are truck mechanics). Other than that, it was a piece of cake. Have not had a chance to test drive yet, but hoping this does the trick.

The Roadmaster track bar made a significant difference in how well the front end of our Kodiak RV tracked. The rut following and resistance to returning onto the road from the shoulder, lane changing etc. are greatly improved. This should be used in conjunction with other suspension upgrades such as a rear track bar, upgraded shocks and stiffer rear springs to further enhance the handling and vehicle control.

by:

If you have an gas motorhome this is one of the best investments you can make. I opted for front and rear trac bars along with new shocks . What a world of difference. Absolutely not pushed by wind or passing trucks. After traveling over the country’s really bad roads we had sumo springs installed. They help but the trac bars were by far a better improvement. We traveled 12,000 miles this summer plus 5,000 in a tow car. We crossed the great divide a half dozen times. All with confidence in a 2005 model fleetwood. I couldn’t imagine trying to drive that trip with the original equipment.

by:

Wow, it Turned my loussy Lucie in a vert stable ride. No morte White knuckle. It’s now stable and prédicable. Can’t wait to go on a long journey.

Thank you for the opportunity to tell of my experience with the Roadmaster TruTrac V-10B front-axle stabilizer rod.

I have just installed the two brackets but we are not planning on going anywhere until August 20th when we will return from Gloucester MA where we will spend the summer, back to our condo in Florida. Ask me again in September!

So I cannot tell you anything about how the stabilizer works, only installation matters...

The warranty asks for a serial number but I could not find one anywhere.

Paragraph two of the instructions says to install "passenger side bracket" but there is no indication of which part this is. I suggest you note in the parts list that identification instead of simply "Davis Tru-Trac Weld" or "Tru-Trac Weld" so we know for sure which part is which.

The stabilizer bar is actually labeled "REAR TRAC BAR ASSY". I had to call the company to be assured that this part was actually for the front of the vehicle.

It was all I could do to torque the nuts on the drivers-side spring u-bolt to 150 Ft/Lb (the maximum on the scale) with an ordinary 1/2" drive torque wrench. Should I buy a larger torque wrench to achieve the requested 220 Ft/Lb?

The passenger-side bracket was more difficult to get tools into play. My torque wrench would not fit in there. I managed to tighten the three half-inch bolts as tight as I could possibly get them with my 1/2" drive ratchet handle. I will check them all after the first day of use and then from time to time. I do like the nylon insert nuts instead of lock washers to avoid loosing the parts in the case of loosening up.

I have not yet installed the stabilizer bar as I will have to move the rig to flat ground for that in the next few days. The instructions say to measure from the ground to the top of the shock absorbers to make sure the rig is level. This seems unnecessarily cumbersome. Since the top of the shock is hard-connected to the frame then why not just measure from the ground to the bottom of the frame rails? It would be helpful to tell us how close the two measurements should be.

I am looking forward to the added stability the TruTrac cross-bar should add to the rig. The primary purpose of buying this equipment is to eliminate the re-occurrence of the horrible "death wobble" that the Ford F53 motor home chassis is prone to. The first time it happened I was driving the rig home after buying it. The previous owner had read the max pressure on the tire saying 110 psi and had put that pressure into all six tires. The wobble started after a bump at around 40 mph and terrified me. I drove home at around 25 mph in the slow lane. I lowered the pressure to the manufacturer's placard 80 psi and went almost 10K miles without a recurrence. Before starting our current trip I increased tire pressure (all cold tire pressures) to 85 psi to try to get a little more stability. While going through a city in TN in 4 or 5 lanes of 70 mph traffic the "death wobble" struck again. After some heroics we managed to get into a delta where a on-ramp came into the main stream of traffic. This allowed me to get out and check the tire pressures up front. It was in the low 90s. I lowered the pressure to 80 psi and we had no further trouble, but I was determined to do something more positive to prevent the "death wobble" from happening again. So I did some looking around on line and settled on your stabilizer bar. Only time will tell if I have actually banished the "death wobble" for good.

Thank you for your interest in my application.

Fellow Kodak RV owner recommended this on my first outing, stating the wandering of the front end is horrible where trucks have worn ruts into the interstate. The Roadmaster TruTrac was a game changer. I followed his advice and it was a very easy bolt-in install. My first 1,700 mi trip was comfortable, and I was never fatigued from working to keep the RV from wandering. Etrailer had a great price and has always been great to deal with - highly recommend the Roadmaster TruTrac.

by:

The sumo springs have performed very well and have really helped the ride and handling of my 2018 Thor motorhome. My experience with etrailer.com continues to be exceptional in every way including product installation.

by:

I installed the trac bar myself , every part fit like O.E.M. on the Ford F53 chassis . The only problem was removal of the nuts from the leaf spring shackle , 200 lbs ft torque , required an impact wrench. A test drive felt a bit firmer and more stable than without the bar. I feel your product is well engineered and high quality. Thank you , for a job well done. RET

by:

Made a big difference in the handling. No more wondering and when you go off the edge of the road you can steer right back on with no problem.

by:

Already had a track bar on the rear axle which made a huge difference in handling. This front bar was also an improvement. Well worth the money.

by:

Love it. Really helps with wandering on uneven roads. Driving is less tiring. Definitely would recommend it! thanks

by:

haven't installed it yet, but I checked the fit of the various parts and it looks very good. looks like a premium product. shipping was right on time. etrailer had the very best price!! and transaction was very clean. thanks etrailer

by:

Arrived on time, Instructions were clear. Everything fit as it should. Only issue during install was the u-bolt for the leaf springs was not exactly bent correctly and sprung outwards when I took it off. Ended up having to take the u-bolt to my shop press to give it a bump so that the bolt would drop down back into the leaf spring plate again without damaging the threads on the u-bolt. Will update on the ride once We take it out for a drive. Installed due to horrific handling We experienced on Our first trip.

by:

Very pleased with the product exceptional quality easy installation improved handling and great customer service from etrailer thank you

by:

Took a lot of work to adapt these to my trailer, but now that they are on I have made several long and heavy trips and have had no more tire issues. Not cheap but doing a great job.
