Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and today we're taking a look at the SmarT-slot mounting kit for Yakima TopWater rooftop fishing pole carrier. That fishing pole carrier can be found separately here at etrailer.com. That part number is Y04088 and basically it's just a big, long carrier to house your fishing poles so they don't get damaged or dirtied by being out in the elements. This is going to be a kit to mount that carrier more flush on your bars so you don't have the clamp going around underneath. It helps to alleviate that lost space underneath your roof rack system, and makes it just a more low profile attachment point. So we'll have these large covers to go in place on our box so it's going to help protect our bars and the box itself.
It's pretty much just a sticky piece of rubber. There's a little backing here on the one side so we can peel that up and then get that second place that'll have a hole in the top to allow our hardware to drop through. The hardware will fit into the T slot of our roof rack system, or our ladder rack system, where ever we might be mounting this up to. And then that's going to go through the box, and our pad here, and then we'll tighten it down with the existing hardware that came with our TopWater fishing rod carrier. It should just be a big knob nut that goes over that and tightens it into place. So you'll just have one attachment point per bar, and it's going to be a little more of a system that you probably want to use if you're not taking this on and off as much. It should hold it pretty securely since you're going into that T channel, and these should work with just about any T style slot out there in any of the roof bars.As far as the size, our pad here measures about three and a half inches side to side, which would be the same both directions.
The opening is about a half inch in diameter. These will be pretty much a sixteenth of an inch thick, so fairly thin material, but it feels like sort of a rubbery material that doesn't want to let go. It's kind of a grabby kind of rubber if that helps to describe it. And then our bolts, the slot, or the square head here is about three quarters of an inch wide so anything that has that slot that fits a three quarter inch piece, this should work with. And then the bolt length from the bottom of the head to the end of it is about an inch and a half.
Overall, it's about an inch and five eighths. It is a direct replacement, or a direct kit from Yakima, so it should work with your TopWater mounting knobs just fine. And that's going to do it for our look at SmarT-Slot mounting kit for the Yakima TopWater rooftop fishing pole carrier.
