Replace a missing Thule key with this equivalent part.The key I sought was for a Sears car top carrier from 2001. There is no marking or model number on the carrier, but the lock does have the key code stamped on it. Sears had no replacement key. Sears sent me to etrailer.
As I stepped through the process to get a key I discovered that the key code number I entered (900) would default to 090 on the etrailer web page. The web site didn’t give me any error message and the key looked very similar to the one I lost - so I ordered two.
When they arrived, I discovered that they fit perfectly into to the lock’s key slot, but alas the key pattern was incorrect.
I called etrailer for help. The rep I spoke to was very helpful. He went through my exact process and ended up with key 090, just as I had done! He told me that Thule made those car top carriers for Sears, so that explains why the key would fit well into the lock’s slot. Right kind of key, wrong code. No way to get the right code.
So money wasted, but that was my risk. I knew that 900 was not 090 but that was the only option and the web site didn’t warn me. Returning the keys would be more trouble than the keys cost.
I think if I had known the model of my carrier or had a key code that the web site recognized, the whole process would have worked fine.
Just be aware...there doesn’t seem to be any logic in the key code search logic to prevent you from entering a key code that doesn’t exist. In my case it defaulted to a number that looked close and it showed me a picture of a VERY similar key. But it was wrong.
The rest of the story: I took the car top carrier to a locksmith. Within two hours (and $40 later) he had it open and had made four keys for me. Those keys all work so I now know what key code 900 for an unknown model Thule car top carrier looks like - if anyone needs that useless bit of info. ??

This is a low tech item (a key), but since I don't think Thule makes the same model bike rack anymore I was apprehensive that I would be unable to find a replacement key for the hitch mount. I was pleased that this key fits perfectly and now I can remove/remount the bike rack as necessary. BTW, I got my Thule bike rack from eTrailer and was very pleased.
I bought this hoping it would fit a Y002 branded lock cylinder on a Harbor Freight universal roof crossbar. It did not. No fault of the seller, I knew it was a gamble. There is obviously more than one brand of lock cylinder with the Y002 designation.

I had a SEARS SPORT 20-SV (roof top cargo carrier )with lock numbers 2818 right above where you insert the key. I just added the letter (N) before the. So I ordered N2818 and it worked perfectly!! Two day shipping was right on time.
I recently purchased a used Karrite Explorer cargo box from a gentleman who had lost the keys. This replacement key fit the cargo box perfectly. I now have a fully functional box for a fraction of the cost of a new one.
Replacement key was a perfect fit! Made taking off the roof rack of a used vehicle a breeze. More importantly, I can continue to use the same roof rack or sale it.

Worked for my 1989 VW GTI's roof rack. Very nice that you can still order older keys for older Thule units.

A key for a Thule rooftop carriers the wrong part was sent but when I called and informed you I was shipped the correct item and it arrived today
I spoke to Thule. They indicated there are NO replacement keys for my particular roof racks. Not these. And NOT the other ones the next Customer Service Rep said would work.
Matches original key perfectly.Received order in a timely manner.Etrailer did it again,that is why they are my goto Co.
