John: Hey guys, John here from e-trailer.com and today we're going to take a look at the replacement clamp lock housing for Thule Xsporter ladder racks. This is a very simple replacement part. It can be easy to misplace if we're not careful. And so it just slides over our clamp bracket and then we lock it. I would like to make a point though, that this doesn't come with the lock core. And so what you can do is you can grab a universal change key, we have them here at e-trailer.com, and then use that to remove the lock core from your old housing.And it simply inserts into our new housing, and we'll be able to put that on, lock it, and use it just like normal.
Not a whole lot of ladder racks actually have the ability to lock. Most of the time, it's just clamping systems. So I think it's really cool how Thule has added the ability to lock our ladder rack hardware to our truck bed to help deter theft.Like we mentioned before, you can get that universal change key to replace the lock core if you have your old housing, but odds are this is going to get lost before it gets damaged. And so I do recommend picking up some other lock cores that we have here at e-trailer.com to make sure that this one would be key to like with the other one that we have on the ladder rack. But that's going to do it for a look at the replacement lock core housing for our Thule Xsporter Pro ladder racks.

This Key did not work for locks on rack

I purchased a basic TracRac and wanted a system to lock in on the truck to prevent theft. The folks at Etrailer where kind enough to help me figure out what I needed as demonstrated in the video however at the time, the parts weren't for sale. I believe they are now.
Important though, not all parts sent to me by trainer where necessary. I needed the following:
2 -Replacement T-Slide Casting for Thule Xsporter Pro Ladder Rack - 8523164001
2 - Clamp Lock Housing for Thule Xsporter Pro Ladder Rack - Qty 1 - 8523163001
1 set - Thule One-Key System Lock Cylinders - Qty 2 - TH512
The Replacement Upright Locking Endcap for Thule Xsporter Pro Adjustable Height Truck Bed Ladder Rack - 8523166001 and Replacement Socket Head Cap Screw for Thule Xsporter Pro Ladder Rack - 3/8"-16 x 3/4" - 8523233001 had nothing to do with locking down the clamps that come with the TracRac.
Also, On addition to the T-slide, an addition nut and washer needs to slide on to the bold that hold the clamp on in order to set the T-slide in place so that the clamp lock housing can be set on and the lock cylinders used.
Took me a few minutes to figure out. Seems to be holding nicely.
I appreciate Etrailers assistance in getting me set up with what I needed. I
ve had racks stolen before. The additional money for the locks is better than paying a lot more + down the road.

Yeah those universal keys are touchy sometimes. There will be a little indent on the cylinder that you have to turn the key to and then wiggle it out. You can then put you new cylinder in with the standard key it came with by sliding it in and turning it all the way left and right to make sure it seats proper.
