Video Transcript for Rhino-Rack Heavy-Duty Crossbars Ratchet Grab Tie-Down Strap Review

What's up everybody, it's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna checking out the Rhino Rack ratchet strap. It's gonna go on your HD bars. So just slides right here in the channel and use it to tighten down whatever cargo you're throwing up on the bars. Let's check it out. This is a good accessory if you're tying stuff down on your roof all the time.

It sure beats having another end to deal with, so when you're going to tie something down, let's say you let go something, that drops down on the roof and could damage. This slides in the track, so you don't have to worry about the buckle going anywhere. So the mechanism itself is gonna stay right here leaving you free, just to wrap the strap around wherever you need to and tighten it down. It really does take the work out of trying to figure out where this is gonna rest. You also don't want it against wherever you're hauling to scratch it or damage it.

It's gonna be right here out of the way. And as long as you have a tie on point on the other side to wrap that around and hook it in you can get it tied down real quick. Works really good with the other accessories that are available for the bars. Like I said, as long as you have a tie on point on the other side. So some options for that time point would be an eyelet that'd like slides right in.

You twist it to tighten it up. Then also our ladder pegs we have on here. That extra ladder peg on that side right there was perfect to hook the end of the right strap in and then tighten it down from there. The ratchet mechanism itself is gonna be a stainless steel, so it's gonna hold up if you leave it out in the elements. It's gonna be corrosion resistance.

I do recommend if you don't have a load up here just removing the strap and throw that inside your truck. You don't want that loose up here on the roof. Now let's check out how it works. So we already got our strap run through it. I got it attached to the eyelet on the other side, you see how loose the strap is. You're gonna pull out that extra strap before you start tighten it down. That way it doesn't bind up in here and keep it from working. So we've got that per pulled pretty tight. Now I'll pull up on the mechanism on the inside. Bring the arm back. And you see it's pulling the ladder down it seems pretty tight. It can take a whole truck by the ladder. So I think that's gonna work. Looking in the channel, you can see the spacer underneath the ratchet and then underneath that's going to be the C channel mount that Rhino Rack gives you. So that just pushes up on these edges here and holds it here tight. Once you tighten the ladder down just go ahead and tie up your extra strap. I could go ahead and just put it in the track there keep it all in one place that way it's not flapping behind me. But overall that's all that really is to it. It works really well. I like the ability to strap things down really tight with the ratchet strap, not guessing on tying things in knots and trusting that this is real tight. Again, from a further back view you have now you see I'm shaking the whole truck back and forth from the ladder. This isn't rattling, and this isn't moving. It's not going anywhere. Well, think that does it. Thanks for hanging out, and I hope this helps..

  • Roof Rack and Canoe Carrier Recommendation for a 2008 Chevy Silverado
A Rhino Rack Roof Rack that includes the part # RRRLKHD would do an excellent job for carrying a 15 foot canoe on your 2008 Chevy Silverado. The rest of the parts needed to complete the roof rack would be the part # RB1375B-2 and # DK227. This is one of the strongest racks we offer so it would definitely take a lot of abuse. It would be great for carrying your canoe. For securing a canoe upside down on the crossbars I would recommend the Ratchet Grab part # RRRRG. I spoke to my contact...
