Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today, we're taking a look at the Mighty Cord replacement. This is going to be a hardwire RV plug for the male end of your 30 amp cord. So I have the screws kind of halfway out right now, because I'm going to show you the inside in just a second. Normally, those would be tightened all the way down, but this is going to have the prongs so we can get our cord mounted up. Something maybe happened to this, a prong got bent, the housing got damaged somewhere along the way, so we need to replace that up with this.
This is going to allow you to do that, has the nice handle on the backside to make it easy to unplug this from our socket, so we don't have to struggle to claw against it and pry that out. We can just grab that there, pull out with that little ring.Now, like I said, I'm going to open this up so you can see the inside on how to wire it. It just takes a smallish Phillips head to remove those three screws. The two largest screws at the bottom, those are going to be for a bracket that goes around your cable as it comes in, so you don't need to remove those screws to undo the housing here, it's just these three. So now we got those guys, we can pull this open, and you can see that bracket that I'm talking about, it's just a little clamp that goes around there to hold that wire in tight.
It's got kind of a rubber boot here, so that's going to provide water protection for our core to make sure that we don't have any water, or dirt, or debris getting in at the cord side there.The connections for our wiring inside, they are labeled, so we'll have our black wire, white wire, and our green wire. So it's going to be our power, ground, and neutral connections. To do that, you'll just loosen these up, and there'll be a little washer underneath, so you'll want to kind of split the wire and put both sides of that wire underneath the washer. Make sure you don't have any stray wire hanging out that can get connected to the other side, you want to keep everything nice and tidy under that washer to make sure that it's a good connection. Once it's in there, tighten it back down, good to go, do the same with the other two connections there.So I want to close this guy up.
This is made of a durable polyester construction, so it shouldn't have any issues with cracking and fading. Pretty easy to get this taken apart and put back together. It is covered by a one-year warranty from Mighty Cord, and again, it is rated for 30 amps at 125 volts, and should be a good addition to your cord. I watched the videos on the website for installing these items, and found them very helpful. I am no stranger to working on electrical stuff. I did find the male plug a little disconcerting in that there was so little room to get everything hooked up right. I also didn't like the way the wires had to screw onto the posts, I think the system the female plug end uses is better. However, it went together just the way it was supposed to and is working fine, no issues. I will check this site again when I need parts for my rv

This is the only replacement plug that had all the features I needed and wanted. It is well designed in terms of electrical integrity and most importantly it fits inside the cord opening on the RV and allows the cover to close.

I bought this plug because of some space restraints. I have a more durable plug but the size won't work in my application.
The wire terminals inside should be redesigned so that they don't pull one side in and the other side out. Perhaps like the offset ones that allow the full wire diameter to be clamped on one side.
Another issue is that the small diameter screws on the case seem to strip out instead of firmly holding the 2 halves of the plug together. I'm wondering how long this will really last? Will the plug just fall apart with time. Hopefully not when in use.
I'd gladly pay extra for something that inspires confidence.

Excellent product for what I needed. Not to impressed about delivery. Product arrived and left at door with red stamped message on it saying ship damage. But product was still intact inside it’s package. Used plug to replace on rv.

Low quality terminations. Would not have purchased these if I saw them in person. You get what you pay for and these were not expensive. Need them this weekend so I will use them once and replace them with something better.

- Will Existing Cord Fit Snugly In Mighty Cord Replacement RV PlugYes, your cord will be snug following the installation of the female # A10-R30VP and male # A10-P30VP plugs. The internal clamp will hold the cord securely in place so there is no slop. These have a polyester construction, are weather resistant, and the best replacement option.

You just wouldn't want to unplug the power cord and leave it in the open or just laying on the ground.
