Video Transcript for Lippert Solera Awning Manufactuer Demo LC271181

At Lipper Components we understand that knowing how your products operate is key to enhancing your outdoor enjoyment. This video addresses how to properly and safely operate the Solera awning with a pull strap. Your unit also came with a step by step Solera owner's manual. As always, refer to this manual first for correct and safe operation techniques. Understanding your Solera awning. The innovation of the Solera awning sets a new benchmark for awning design in the RV industry.

The added features of the gas strut and friction joint enhance the easy operation of the manual Solera awning. Let's get started. First, make sure your awning travel locks are released. Your awning came with an awning rod. This rod is imperative to extending and retracting the awning.

It allows you to safely walk the awning out or in without overextending your reach. Use the awning rod to place the awning ratchet mechanism in the roll out or extend position. Pulling the locking level to the down position accomplishes this. Next insert the awning rod into the awning strap and pull the awning down. Pull the end of the strap down to about chest level. This allows you to walk the awning out to the desired position at an even pace with the awning rod in a safe handheld position as illustrated here.

Solera awnings are equipped with a stop mechanism that prevents the awning from unexpectedly retracting. This means the awning will hold its position wherever it is stopped. For full extension, pull the manual strap outward until the awning skirt seam reaches the leading edge of the awning tube. Features and benefits of a Solera awning. In the extend position, your awning is equipped with an industry first friction joint that allows for easier side to side adjustments.

The awning pitch can be set manually by adjusting the articulating arm to tip one side of the awning to allow water runoff. To retract, pull the manual strap outward from the coach. This releases the spring tension on the locking lever. Push the locking lever up into the unlock position. Important, be sure to maintain pressure on the manual strap. Do not wrap your wrist in the pole strap. With one hand firmly holding the strap, place the awning rod in the strap loop and carefully allow the awning to walk itself back in. Note, depending on the size of the awning, retracting the awning may be a two person job, as one person may not be able to reach the locking lever while handling the manual strap. Be sure the locking lever is in the locked position before traveling, and if your awning has travel locks, reengage. Adjusting pitch. Without manually setting pitch to the awning, the awning will pitch itself to purge excessive water that may pool in one location and may dump a significant amount of water to either end of the awning without notice. Fabric care. In the event the Solera awning must be retracted while still wet, it must be extended as soon as conditions allow to let it dry before retracting for storage. This will help prevent the formation of mildew and add to the life of the awning fabric. Mildew does not form on the fabric itself but on the accumulated dust, dirt and grime. Periodically clean vinyl or woven acrylic fabric using a mixture of 1/4 cup of dish soap mixed with 5 gallons of warm water. Liberally slosh the mixture on the top of the fabric and roll the awning up for 5 minutes. This will apply the mixture to the bottom as well.
