Video Transcript for Review of Lippert Replacement Drive Head And Roll Bar For Solera RV Slide Out Awning - LC34FR

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com and today we're gonna take a look at this replacement drive head and roll bar for the Solera RV slide-out awning. This is going to replace the drive head and roll bar for your Solera RV slide-out awning. If you are facing your awning, the drive head is on the right side. And if you need the idler head I am including our item number on your screen for the replacement left side or idler head and roll bar for Solera RV slide-out awnings. Just take that item number that you see there on your screen, put it in the search field of our website, and it will take you to that. Now, since this is a Lippert components product, it's going to be the exact same as your original.

So what's nice is you're not gonna have to worry about fit issues. It's going to be the same quality, the same fit, as the original and this is going to fit all Solera RV slide-out awnings. This is made here in the USA and as you can see it as a black color so it's going to blend in well with the slide-out awning that you currently have. Now, keep in mind, this is spring-loaded, obviously, so you wanna be careful when you are removing your old one and installing this new one. It is possible that it could be under some pressure so you wanna make sure that you are supporting it so that you don't potentially get injured while you are installing this.

Well, that's gonna conclude our brief look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me..

Replace the head and roll bar on the right side of your Solera slide-topper awning.

The part showed up on time and well package. No instructions (as expected) and Lippert Cmpts manuals don't cover a drive or idler bar. The original part was only 6 yrs old and the shaft sheared in right hand bracket/holder. Replacement was straightforward - with the slideout fully pulled in, it was just a matter of removing the bracket bar and end piece (as the shaft broke there are no concerns with spring tension) and then removing the end cap (3 screws), pulling it off and exposing the hollow roll tube. The broken bar and spring had slide forward in the tube so it had to be fished out. Installing the new drive bar/spring is basically the reverse procedure. Make sure you align one of the spiders on the far end of the shaft/bar with the round channel inside the tube. If you are any bit at all mechanically inclined, it is easy to figure out.

Easy diy job and great service from etrailer. I only needed the bracket. Please sell the brackets individually. Thx

I got my shipment very quickly which was great for our 1st of the year camping trip coming soon. Install was pretty straight forward. Instead of having the awning out at 5 to 6 inches for the install and turning clockwise 14 turns, I put it all the way out and did 14 turns counterclockwise. Install took me about an hour.

by:

Exact replacement.
The posted link to
the installation directions didn't go anywhere for me.
I pulled slide out about 6" and pre loaded the spring about 5 turns.
Works great!!

by:

Part was a direct replacement for perfect! Shipping was fast.

by:

This is my second time ordering these parts (these are for a different set of slide toppers). They work great. They are easy to swap out for the old ones.

by:

This was the correct part and it was easy enough to replace a broken one with this.

by:

Quick and easy. And people are so nice and helpful!!!

by:

Ups left it haft way out the drive way

by:

Awesome exactly what I needed

by:

Exactly what I ordered and super fast d elivery.

by:

There was no installation instructions included for the drive head. Nothing was found on etrailer webpage either. Called customer assistance and they directed me to Lippert/Solera. Nothing on their tech page. If and when I get these parts installed, I will revisit the rating.

Not mentioned in the description. Yes it does matter. Correct fit, no instructions but you- tube it for information.

The part is an exact fit and arrived in excellent condition. It took less than two days to be delivered. I had enough time in the day to install it. The videos available were also a big help especially with spring tension and direction. An rv service dealer helped me reference the correct part number and information for my application. I am highly satisfied with etrailer.

When looking at your Solera Slideout Topper when looking at the right side, that is the" Drive" side and the "Idler" will be on the left. It sounds like you need the drive head, so you can use the Replacement Drive Head and Roll Tube for Solera RV Slide-Out Awning - Black # LC34FR.

  • Do You Have To Remove The Solera Slide Topper To Replace The Idler Head On The Roller Tube?
You do not have to remove the entire slide topper to be able to replace the Idler Head and Roll Tube # LC87FR for your Solera slide topper. A second person will be able to support the weight of the tube and fabric in place while the assembly is replaced. Depending on the height of your toppers and the working platform you have it may be safer to pull the entire assembly since you will have small hardware that needs to be removed and installed. • Replacement Parts For A 2018 Jayco Precept Motorhome Slide Out Awning
Jayco tends to use Dometic A&E awnings so you'd most likely have to purchase an entirely new slide topper since we currently only offer Solera branded components. I haven't gotten to work on Dometic awnings so I can't say if it's the same but Solera awning springs can be reset inside of the roller tube to get the tension back. Yours sounds like it might be a bit more broken than just re-tensioning the spring though so you'd like need to replace the arm(s). If you have a Solera model then...

  • Which Direction to Roll RV Awning When Installing
When winding an awning you want to wind in the direction that would allow the spring tension to want to pull the awning fabric in. So depending on how you look at the head it could be clockwise or counter-clockwise. So roll the awning like you are rolling it towards the body of the RV since the fabric comes over the top of the roller. 14 rolls is typically gives the best amount of tension.
