Ellen: Hey, everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a quick look at the replacement RV closet or folding door latch plate. This is just going to be a little latch with a post to help keep that door closed on your RV. Basically that little post just goes into the slot there and holds it in place. Just a little thing to keep everything together.It comes with the mounting hardware necessary to get this in place.
This latch portion does require a 1/2 inch deep cutout in that door jam so that this can sit flush with the door. As far as the length of it overall, it's about 1 5/8 of an inch wide. Our mounting holes are about 1 1/4 inch apart. The cutout needs to be an inch deep or, excuse me, an inch wide by at least 3/8 of an inch thick, then about a 1/2 inch deep.That's so that this portion can be in there as well. Again, going side to side, it's about an 1 5/8.
Our post is just about 3/8 of an inch in diameter and then sticks out about 9/16 of an inch. Our hardware, I have these three screws that are each about an inch long, maybe 7/8 of an inch long. I have two for this portion and one for our post.But that's pretty much all there is to it for our replacement RV door or folding door or closet door latch plate. Overall etrailer did a very good job of getting my part out. That being said the USPS sent it for a 3700 mile tour of the western US verses a 1250 mile straight shot and bypassed my town twice. The part is exactly what I needed. Thank you etrailer
