Video Transcript for Dahon Folding Bikes Combo Seat Post and Bike Tire Hand Pump Review

Hi, everyone. It's Evangeline, here at etrailer, and today we'll be taking a look at the seat post air pump. This is designed for your Dahon folding bicycles, gives you a seat post and an air pump, two in one, and we're gonna take a look at it, right here at etrailer.com. This is what the seat post looks like on it own. We have our spot for our saddle, so I'll show you how to put that on in a bit. We also have, look over here, we have different measurements for where you're sitting.

So I like to have it where it's almost all the way down, so it's nice to know once I have it in there, I can see it lined up. As you can see here, my bike is white with silver trim, so if I wanted to, I could get this exact seat post in silver. Two color options, black or silver. At the end, you have this little grip here, just to make it easier to take that cap off when you need to access the pump, and seal it tight when you don't. So this is helpful, because then it helps protect your pump from the eye of prying thieves, but also helps protect it from the rain and the water, for when you're splashing around.

So on a lot of your bikes, what's gonna happen was that, when it's folded up, it's gonna rest on the seat post itself. So as you can see here, we have that, what feels like a plastic material, for your end cap. And it's holding up pretty well to the ground and the weight of the bike. So the seat post on your Dahon bicycle is already multipurpose. It pops down and it creates a stand when it's all folded up, and then when you have it up and you're ready to ride, you're sitting on it.

Then there's another thing it can do. So, this one is designed to be both a seat post and an air pump. So right over here at the bottom is gonna be your cap, for when you wanna turn this into an air pump. Let's take a look at that process. What if we quickly have a flat tire that we need to air up So here we have a flat front tire.

As you can see, it's pretty much completely flat. So we're gonna stop right here, we're gonna park our bike, and set it up. And now we have our seat post here, so just take that out, lift that up and then access the pump. There it is. So what I'm gonna do, is there's a little stand here at the end of the pump. So, that's gonna go onto the ground to step on for later. Then we have a Schrader valve here. So, we're gonna get that lined up with our bike, we're gonna have to turn that around, take the cap off, and then put this on the end. So, we're gonna get our Schrader valve, put that over, tighten that down, and we're gonna turn this. You can hear the air in the tire already. Now we're gonna set up our pump, there we go, and fill up our tire. You can use your saddle as grip, Nine, ten, almost there. 12. So, it took about 12 pumps to fully inflate our tires. So now that our tires are fully inflated, we can just pop this back in, and then get the hose in there as well. Make sure it's all the way in, put the end cap on, and then this is gonna turn back into your seat post. Just get that into place, and you're ready to ride. Once you get your pump, you're first gonna wanna replace your seat post. So, I took the saddle off off the old seat post, and we're gonna put the saddle onto our new seat post. So, use your own Allen key to loosen this bolt. Once that's off, then just put your new saddle into place and install it. Once you have your saddle at the angle and position you want it, like, I like mine further forward, 'cause I'm short, you're just then gonna pop it right into where your seat post used to be. So, have the latch open on your Dahon folding bike, pop that down, and latch it back into place. And just like that you have a new seat post, plus this time it has a pump on the inside. So I personally think it's a great idea to just go ahead and upgrade your current seat post into this seat post air pump. It works really well. Of course it's a direct replacement to your current seat post, but this time you have the added effect for if you have a flat tire, you're in an emergency situation, you can inflate it real quick with what you already have on your bike. It's definitely not gonna work the same way as a regular bike pump, like you won't be able to see the pressure, the PSI, but still something very good to have, 'cause you do have a folding bike. The focus is compactness and portability. This just adds to that. And that was a look right here at our Dahon seat post and air pump here at etrailer. My name is Evangeline, and I hope you enjoyed the journey..
