Video Transcript for Review of Redline Trailer Wheels - Lug Nut - 12CLN

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this 1/2 inch by 20 size chrome trailer wheel lug nut. Now this is a single 1/2 inch by 20 size wheel lug nut and this is a chrome plated steel construction. Now this lug nut is the most common size lug nut size that's used on the small to medium size trailers that have eight inch up to 15 inch size wheels. And some 16 inch size wheels will still use the 1/2 inch size. And when we say 1/2 inch size what we're meaning is the diameter of the size bolt that this will thread onto.

And then the 20 is means how many threads per inch there are. And usually on the lug nuts you'll see that they do stamp the 1/2 inch under, let's you know what size it is. And I did happen to pull one of the bolts that this would screw onto. So you can see this just goes right on there, tighten it down, torque it to your specs. Now also if you notice on this lug nut, they do use a 60 degree taper and that taper will match the taper on your steel or aluminum wheels.

So when you use this lug nut with all the other lug nuts on the wheel, it allows you to center that wheel onto your wheel hub because it'll taper onto the taper of the wheel and center it. Now the height from this lug nut is gonna be 1 3/8 inches tall. The hex head size or the socket size you would use on this is gonna be 13/16 of an inch. And just to give you an idea, I happened to pull here's a 13/16 size socket and you can see how it fits right onto that 1/2 inch by 20 size lug nut. Also, what's nice about this being a longer lug nut, it provides a better grip when you're tightening or loosening your lugs because of that taller height.

Your normal factory lug nuts I happen to have one here to show you. There's your factory lug nuts that you'll see on your normal trailers and those are only about a 5/8 of an inch tall and you can see the bolt is exposed. They do not provide as much grip when you're torquing your lug nuts. And you do wanna remember that when you do install your lug nuts onto your wheels you do always want to use the correct torque for your wheel size. And also if you notice, what's nice on these is these do provide a better look with the chrome finish and the covered end and they work well on those nice looking aluminum wheels.

But that should do it for the review on this 1/2 inch by 20 size chrome trailer wheel lug nut.

Timely delivery as always from etrailer. Always a great place to order parts for our travel trailer.

Bought to replace lug nuts that had the chrome covering which was falling off. Worked great and are holding up good.

Have had the lug nuts on and off several times for re-packing the wheel bearings. Still look great.

by:

Great quality rims look good on the trailer better than the steel ones that trailers come with today and e trailer has good customer service very helpful when there’s an issue

by:

everything you sent worked, no problems at all, wheels, center cap, nuts were all good. Thanks for your service.

wheels seem to be going well, plastic hub covers pitted within weeks.

I needed a lug nut, couldn't find one locally so I ordered this one. It came on time and appears to be good quality. It is now installed on my trailer wheel.

Nice quality

Great. Nice quality.

by:

Used these on a 10k flatbed trailer; the last open set of lug nuts had a couple rust over and had to replace studs. I wanted something with closed ends and lots of them. Local auto parts stores had similar parts for just a little more, however I couldn't find enough of them at a time to have them come close to a match. I got all 24 and they're working out well.

Yes, I could have gotten lugs cheaper from other big-name websites. However as I read reviews from those products, the quality was severely lacking.

etrailer.com has good quality parts at a great price.

One year later and these are just like when I bought them. Great product.

by:

I always use e trailer for my boat trailer and travel trailer. I recently ordered new wheels, lug nuts and stainless steel brakes. They were timely delivered and work perfectly. See attached.

Terry H.

3/4/2022

The stainless steel brakes are still working. No issues.

by:

To dress up my pull-behind motorcycle trailer, I purchased these wheels, tires and lugnuts. The trailer looks awesome and tows perfectly. I would definitely purchase these again.

After a year, wheels still look good. I don’t tow this trailer very often, and it it garage kept. But when I do, these tires do their job perfectly.

by:

These are a great addition to replace the standard trailer lug nuts. They look and work great! Just make sure you have studs that are not too long to fit. They did not work with my original wheels (and spare) but fit great on the new wheels I bought.

by:

Wheels look very good and radial tires will last much longer than bias ply. Also, the boat trailer rides smoother.

by:

I bought 32 of these wheel lug nuts because when I was inspecting the wheel bearings on my 2011 Jayco Eagle 5th wheel, I found one of the original “Torq-n-go” lug nuts was broken. I discovered Torq-n-go lug nuts are no longer available, so I decided to replace all of the lug nuts with these. They are the perfect replacement and they actually look much better than the old lug nuts.
I recommend etrailer. They always come through with what I need at reasonable prices.
One photo is of the installed nuts and the other is the old and broken nuts.

by:

92 Bass Cat. Nice wheels. Ordered 12 lug nuts but 2 were a different size. Other than that. Quick delivery and good customer service

by:

Very impressed w the quality of the wheels. Had 2 steel wheels crack so thankfull that won’t be an issue with these. They also made my trailer look so much better!

by:

These chrome lugs were just what I needed to dress up my box trailer wheels. Great price too.

Big D.

4/27/2015

Still looks like new.

by:

Wheels look great on my horse trailer.

by:

A lot better than the old ones that were laminated but you couldn’t get off these are solid steel but they are starting to rust just a bit will have to keep on top of them with WD-40 or other lubricant Ok

by:

Good quality materials.

by:

These wheels look great! Big improvement over stock rims. Quick receipt and everything was as advertised.

by:

Yes I did receive my order today and everything was packaged well and in excellent shape.

I have attached some photos of the 14" Lionshead Jaguar wheels, chrome centercaps and chrome lugnuts mounted on my 2011 Rockwood Mini Lite, as well as the Adco spare tire cover. Both look great!

by:

Awesome tires I put them on our 22' Load Trail tilt deck. We haul our Cat 259D and 305C on it just about every day and I have no complaints. Tread wear so far is not noticeable at all. Rims are holding up great to harsh winters here in Michigan. I have several friends that have purchased same package due to our experience.

by:

I bought 26 of these chrome lug nuts from etrailer.com. 24 for 4 wheels with 6 lugs per wheel and a couple of spares. All of the lugs nuts are very consistent in quality and finish, and all went on the lugs smoothly. What more can you ask for? Looks to be a great product at a very reasonable price.

Trailer tires are really only safe to use if they are newer that 4-6 years so yours are definitely at that time where yours need to be replaced. I looked up pictures of your 2014 R-Pod 177 and a lot of them have the black aluminum wheel designs like the Castle Rock ST225/75R15 Radial Tire # 274-000029 and 15" Aluminum Liger Wheel # LH35FR which I recommend highly for you. It looks great, fits the hubs of your trailer, has a tire that has a higher speed rating of 75 mph and comes with a...

Thank you for the picture! The problem you are running into has more to do with the lug nuts you are using than the tire wrenches like part # PTW1 that you referenced. Since the Kenda Karrier S-Trail # AM31215 is a little more recessed where the lug nuts sit you need to swap out your shorter lug nuts, like part # CE11051, and replace them with taller lug nuts like part # 12CLN. • Replacement Lug Nuts For Trailer Wheels On a 2018 Jayco North Point 5TH Wheel Camper
We do not carry any lug nuts with a rubber gasket and I personally would not recommend using any rubber gaskets for lug nuts. The hubs on your 2018 Jayco North Point will generate a lot of heat from the brakes. This would cause the rubber to become soft and more prone to breakdown. That would make it easier for the lug nut to loosen. Instead I would stay with the standard lug nut for your axle. I used these wheels on my PWC trailer years ago, they really dress up the looks of a trailer compared to the standard white powder coated steel spoke wheels.
