Video Transcript for Wheel Stud Installation on a Boat Trailer

Today on This Old Boat Trailer we are going to repair one of the lug bolts in the hub. We are going to replace the wheel stud by using part number 25-53. The first thing we need to do is clean out the threads and we are going to be using a wire brush to do that with and that is part number 814092. Once we have everything cleaned out we will install the new wheel stud. We will use some thread locker to help keep it from coming back out and that is going to be part number LT37643. 00:28

Then we are going to take two regular lug nuts, you can use these off of the existing studs if you want and we will run these two together. Hold one nut in place and then draw the other nut onto it. Lock the two together and it will just run the two nuts together and kind of jam them and then we will take the assembly and we will just thread it in. There is a little ring in the middle of it and run that down until the ring seats into the hub. You want to tighten it down as you would any other wheel bolt or lug nut and once you have it ran down we will simply back off this nut. We have got our wheel stud repaired and we can put the wheel back on. Then we are going to top it off with a new chrome lug nut and that is going to be part number 12CLN. That is it, that will finish our installation of our wheel stud part number 25-53 on This Boat Trailer.

I am converting two boat trailers from lug bolts to studs and lug nuts so I can have locking lugs for each wheel. Product quality is excellent.
In the plumbing department of our locally owned big-box hardware store I found a 1/2" diameter wire brush I used to clean out the threaded holes in the hubs and used red lock-tite to install them following the instruction sheet provided with the studs - worked great! Pretty straight forward.

Product is a ok after a year. Thanks!

Very happy, located in New Hampshire and I spent three days going to store to store to try and find these studs for my old trailer. All was lost when even two local trailer dealers couldn't even get me these. But I found them here and there exactly what I needed for my 1996 yatch club Snowmobile trailer

Very quick and organized this company is. The part ordered came early and they made sure I knew the process from placing the order all the way through to it arriving at it’s final destination.
No delays or anything, which was quite a refreshing change.

I recently received my order from e-trailer. I ordered a Dexstar wheel, a pair of Kenda tires, a chrome when center cap, lug nuts and screw in studs. I read all the pertinent info supplied as well as check exactly the brands, sizes etc of the parts I was replacing. I was notified by email (from Phyllis) the day following the order placement that their was a shipment delay of the tires, I was supplied with equivalent tire replacements which could have been supplied to keep the order on time or wait a week and get exactly what I originally ordered. I waited and received everything faster then I thought it would have taken. Phyllis kept me updated every couple days on the order progress- so nice! I was a little unsure if the screw in studs would fit but ordered what seemed to be the best match (had to start somewhere & figured I could return if no fit) and studs and lugs fit as stock- exact matches. This was my 2nd order in two years and have had great customer service and better then stock replacement parts, certainly all for a cheaper price then I could ever find in NW Montana! Thank You all at e-trailer!

Bought these wheel studs for my snowmobile trailer after some of the nuts were rusted to the studs to the point of backing the studs out of the hub.
Worked perfectly for the fix. After new wheels, rims, studs, and nuts the trailer looks great again.

by:

I bought new rims and tires for my utility trailer and the 20 year old studs in the hubs had the lug nuts seized on them. Once I started loosening my lug nuts the studs backed out with the lug nuts. No where in my city had these type of studs that I needed. I went to this website and found exactly what I needed as replacements. Ordered and received them in a few days.

by:

Got my 2 custom aluminum trailer rims with tires today(4-06-17) they were delivered in only a few days-along with new chrome wheel lug nuts and new replacement studs and chrome screw on valve stems -took them to my local [service center] to have them mounted--got back home and installed them on the boat trailer I restored this past summer with the boat on it that I am also restoring--The rims look great. Thanks Katie for all your help with placing my order---I am a repeat customer and will tell all of my friends of the great service I received. Thank You.

by:

Shopping on this site is so easy. They r linked to PayPal. Shipping was fast and my order was in my mailbox in three days.

by:

I looked and looked for these exact wheel studs for a couple weeks until I finally stumbled across etrailer and there they were. Ordered 24 studs and 24 lug nuts, got 'em in 4 days, and installed them last night. Perfect! Thanks etrailer!

by:

Bought these studs to replace old rusted studs and frozen lug nuts. Wheel studs are excellent quality. Installation video was a huge help and made the replacement simple. Follow the instructions and you won't have any problems. I capped these off with the chrome capped nuts to prevent future corrosion.

by:

etrailer has become my "go to" source for trailer parts. They have always had what I needed, and at a very competitive price; and their service after the sale (communication, quick shipment, followup) is great, even for very small orders.

Ive had no problems at all with the parts Ive ordered. The quality is everything I could have wished for.

by:

Received the 25-53 studs on time and the product is exactly what I ordered. Used this to replace lug bolt on my boat trailer to use aluminum wheels on the trailer. This product allowed me to dress up my old trailer. I am a very satisfied customer.

by:

Tire studs fit perfectly and super easy to install. Love how etrailer has videos to show you how to install there products. I ended up having 5tire studs and lug nuts on my jet ski trailer that rusted to the lug nuts and became loose. Because of etrailer and there fast shipping. I got the parts got them installed and now able to make it to the lake.

by:

Product arrived just as described. Worked great for stud replacement on Sledbed snowmobile trailer that I've owned for 16 years. This item was hard to find anywhere else. Also, the how-to video on the website was helpful for how to install correctly with some good tips. I will definitely order from here again for any other trailer needs I have.

by:

These are the correct studs for a Titan snowmobile trailer hub. I couldn't find these parts anywhere else. The woman who took my call was extremely helpful and polite. The parts arrived today and I installed them on the trailer and everything went together perfectly. This saved me from having to buy and entire hub assembly. Glad I found the eTrailer website.

by:

This stud has 20 threads per inch. Works great with these lug nuts on my WaveRunner trailer: AM90054 Americana Trailer Wheel Lug Nut - 13/16" Diameter - Stainless Steel - 1/2".

by:

just what i needed and the only place on the web that i could find it. also, great video about how to install. thanks!

by:

Exactly the item I needed. It pays to go to the right place(etrailer) for the right part on the first stop. Very fast shipping and easy to track.
The info video was a traffic idea, it made the whole project much easier. Did I say it also save me big bucks!

  • How to Determine Wheel Stud Replacement for Boat Trailer Hub H-1377
Based on my research it looks like you have a hub for a 3,500 lb axle, though we do not have any exact reference for an H-1377 hub to go off of. You only need to know whether your hub uses screw-in or drive-in studs as well as the length of stud you need. This is going to require you to remove one of your wheel studs and if they are drive-in they will have a head on them like the 1/2" x 2-1/2" Wheel Stud # 165995. A screw-in like the 1/2" x 2" Wheel Stud # 25-53 will be completely threaded. I...

  • What Could Cause Enlargement of Trailer Wheel Bolt Holes
In order for the holes on your trailer wheels to become enlarged there would had to have been enough movement of the wheel on your hub's studs to allow the holes to be enlarged. The continuous friction from the wheel studs would wear on the holes in the wheel and enlarge them. Most likely the wheel was not secured to the hub with enough torque on the lug nuts or the wheel is intended for a hub that has different diameter studs. A bent spindle could cause uneven tire wear but not enlarged...

It is potentially possible to change a hub from bolts to standard screw-in wheel studs. In order to do this a number of features have to match up between the bolts and studs.
