Video Transcript for Deka Wiring 16-4B-1 Review

Today, we're going to review part number 16-4B-1. This is the Deka bonded four wire per foot. This is a parallel primary wire that has four parallel conductors bonded together by this thermal plastic insulation and each conductor is independently color coded for easy identification. Basically, can see that it has the normal four wire color coding. The green, which is your right turning brake wire. Your yellow which is your left turning brake wire. Your brown, which is your tail lights, and your white, which is your ground. Each wire is a 16 gauge and again, on this part number, the price is per foot.

I have a foot of wire right here so you can order as many feet as you like. This is designed for use with 50 volts or less. That should do it for the review on part number 16-4B-1, the Deka bonded four wire per foot. .

Wire came with cut insulation

This review covers an earlier purchase of backing plates and brake assemblies for my double axle 16' trailer as well as new wiring for this trailer after repeatedly repairing the wiring purchased from a local store. The brakes work perfectly and the new wiring is so much better than my previous locally purchased wiring. The only problem I have now is remembering to adjust the brakes between the loaded and unloaded trips. Makes the tires last longer!!

Wires are holding up great!! No more breaks or disconnects. This project completes a refitting of my 16 ft car hauler. Earlier parts included brake shoes and backing plates and a new trailer to truck power cable. Very satisfied with all of the items purchased from e-trailer.

Your description on line was the best of anywhere I found. I'm going to make 2 wiring harnesses for my pickup. I'll be towing it behind my motorhome so 1 harness will be from the front bumper to the rear of the bed for a light bar I'm making. Then the 2nd harness will be from the front bumper of the pickup to the rear of my motorhome. I also ordered 2 12" 4 wire loops for each end of the 2 harnesses I'll be making.

They worked out great!

by:

Worked out well and has held up.

by:

Thick heavy gauge wire, with stout insulation.
Not like the thin stuff in a harbor freight light kit.
This is something you will be proud to put on your trailer.

helpful comparison, thanks!

Quality products that allows us to our trailer to automotive OEM standards vs the bound to fail system of the original trailer manufacturer

by:

Great people fast service and they take care of any problems you might have

by:

Having all your wiring color coded and matching for accessories on your camper or trailer is a must as far as im concerned. This roll does just that and makes repairs and connections so much easier. It also prevents shorts and incorrect wiring that alone makes it a must have.

This helped make rewiring my trailer very easy .

Trailer gets used twice a month

by:

Yet another part purchased for my 10K lb trailer build.
I am planning on mounting a waterproof junction box for my wiring, these wires will be used to power all of the lights on the trailer. I will run separate wires for the trailer brakes and battery. The quality of this wire looks to be pretty nice.

by:

Good product. Recieved order fast.

by:

Fast delivery - Ordered on 9/29/17 - Received on 10/4/17
As a benefit, wire is 16G rather then the normal 20G you find in the stores that have ready made harnesses.
NOTE for etrailer managers. I am a technical person by nature and speaking only for myself, when I buy and pay for a specific amount of something, I expect to get that amount. I'm not pinching pennies with you here; BUT, I bought 30' of this wire and when I received it, I measured it twice and came up with 29' 10". Most places I've dealt with in the past where I buy wire, angle iron, etc.. would give you a couple of inches or more than you ordered versus a couple of inches shorter than what was ordered. Very stingy in my opinion and not fair to your customers.

by:

Excellent product, quality, and exact wire gauge I was looking for. I love that I could buy the exact length I needed without buying an entire spool of wire. I'm using this wire on my utility trailer. I needed to lengthen the trailer wire that connects to the vehicle. I covered the wire with split loom and bought new connectors for both truck and trailer. It looks and functions great! Thanks!

by:

super fast shipping. exactly what was needed to get my flatbed trailer back on the road. Prices were great and customer support is fantastic. thanks for all the help and great products.

by:

The wire, rollers and the fenders were all received in good condition; and are installed on the trailer.

Your site was easy to order from, the price was good; and thank you for your promptness in delivering the order.

by:

Online ordering was very easy. Customer service emailed updates every step of the delivery process and allowed me to track my order very easily. Everything came in as expected and in great shape. My first experience with Etrailer has been very pleasant! Thank you!

by:

Excellent new wire that I used to completely rewire the trailer. Very good quality, good insulation, nice fresh multi-strand copper wire inside. Superb! Very satisfied!

by:

Everything I ordered from trailer was exactly as advertised.
Great service!

by:

Hi, I am sorry to give you a not so good review but I feel I must be honest. When I received my wire it was in a rat nest I spent some time unknotting it and some of the wires were not connected to the bonded 4 wire by at least 11/2 foot. however the shipping was fast. Thank You David S.

by:

As always my order was received in record time. The products are great quality with some of the best customer service I have ever received. Etrailer goes above and beyond to provide great products as well as very informative technical information.

by:

Great for running to back and front of the flat bed for the two sets of brake lights.

by:

Good product easy to install just seemed a bit cheap. It was easier than building my own harness.

  • Wiring Replacement Trailer Connector to Trailer Wiring with Two Running Light Circuits
It sounds like your trailer has what's referred to as a wishbone harness. A wishbone harness splits the running lamp circuit into two 'legs' so you can run one leg down the driver's side, and one down the passenger side. If you're wanting to install a replacement 4-pole trailer connector to your existing wiring, I'd recommend using the Hopkins Easy-Pull # HM38134 harness. The neat thing about this connector is it's really easy to use, so you won't try to unplug the trailer connector by...

  • Running Lights are not Working on a Trailer with a 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector
There are a few troubleshooting steps that you can run through to determine why your running lights are not working. The first step that I would take is to check all of your ground connections. A faulty ground connections can cause many different issues. Check that the ground connections from your vehicle and trailer side connectors and from your trailer lights are attached to a clean, bare metal surface such as the vehicle or trailer frame. If all ground connections are in good condition,...

There won't be any conversion needed to go from incandescent lights to LED lights on your camper. You'll simply connect the power wires and connect the light's ground wire and you'll be good to go; you could use something like the Optronics LED Trailer Clearance or Side Marker Light w/ Reflector - 6 Diodes - Square - Red Lens # MCL36RB to replace your old red clearance lights. As long as you're replacing all of the lights on your camper with LED lights you shouldn't experience any issues...

  • Parts Needed to Make 7-way Euro to 4-Way Adapter
I do have an option for you but they do not offer an adapter to go directly from a US 4-Way to a Euro 7-Way. However, you can make one of your own using only the part # 118158, part # 16-4B-1 (per foot), and part # HM48192. I have then attached a wiring diagram on this process for you. You'll have to source the correct trailer connector style local to you as we don't have a Euro style 7-way.

  • Replacement Taillights, Wiring and 7-Way Connector for Car Hauler
To fit the round 4-1/2 inch holes on your trailer for the rear brake lights you could use the # STL42RB as this will fit in that hole. For a pigtail harness you would also need # A45PB. For the side clearance lights you would need to enlarge the holes to 3 inch in diameter, use the # A55GB as a grommet and then use # MCL59AB for the lights and # A46PB as a wiring harness. For a replacement 7-way with 8 feet of wire for running new wire everywhere you would want the part # H20046. You...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Running Lights Not Working on Factory 4-Way For 2013 Ford F-150
It sounds like you have done most of the troubleshooting already! You have ruled out the fuses/relays being the problem and by testing the 4-Way on the F-150 and seeing that you aren't getting power at the running lights pin, you also know that the trailer isn't an issue. At this point the problem has to either be coming from the actual factory wiring between the running lights circuit and the 4-Way, or with the 4-Way connector itself. Since testing/inspecting the factory wiring will...

  • Testing Wiring of Lights to Determine Function before Installing on Vehicle
Since I don't know for sure what light assemblies you have I can only really venture a guess on what the wire colors represent. Especially since there are so many of them. Typically white is ground so I'd start by connecting that to a ground and then test the other wires by having them contact a 12 volt power source to see what functions they activate. Red is probably stoplight circuit, brown is taillight, and yellow is probably blinker but again you'll have to test by function to determine...

  • How to Power Interior Lights of Converted Camper
I recommend using a separate 12-volt battery installed on the trailer to provide power to the interior lights/fan. The 12-volt accessory power circuit can be used to provide a maintenance charge to this battery, but the alternator on the tow vehicle and the limited gauge of the wire feeding the circuit will prevent enough power from getting through to charge the battery if it becomes depleted. When alternative power is available, you can use a charger like the # NOCO Genius # 329-GENIUS5...

  • Troubleshooting One Light Function Not Working on Trailer
In many cases a bad ground is to blame for this type of issue, but in order to determine the specific problem you'll need to use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to test the connector on your tow vehicle after disconnecting it from your trailer. Check the wiring going into your harness from your taillights to see if those wires are carrying the correct signals, if not then the issue is with the vehicle wiring. If the signals going to your harness are okay, you'll need to test the signals...

  • Reverse Light Wire Color on a 1996 Chevrolet K1500 Pickup to Allow Connection of Back Up Light
The best way to confirm which wire activates your vehicle reverse lights is to remove one taillight assembly and visually identify which lead goes to the reverse light bulb. To remove the taillight, open the tailgate and locate and remove the two taillight retaining screws. This will allow you to pull out the taillight assembly for access to the wiring. Then, for safety sake, it will be useful to have a helper turn the ignition to the on position without starting the vehicle. Then place...

It sounds like you have a wishbone wiring harness on your trailer, for which there will be two brown running light wires - one for each side of the trailer. Also check the ground connections on the trailer, including the light assemblies themselves (whether they ground through a dedicated wire or through their...

No Worries! It is very common for your lights to have similar color wires. Commonly one black is ground, one black is running lights and the red is brake. To verify use a 12 volt battery and touch the red to positive and one of the blacks to ground if it lights up bright it you have your ground with the black and your brake/turn with the red the other black is running. It is sold in increments of 1 foot. So if you needed 20 feet you would enter 20 in the quantity box. Or you could replace the connector as well. I can help you sort out your trailer wiring so that you can correctly install your new LED trailer lights. • Troubleshooting Right Side Running Lights On Trailer Not Working with 2019 Chevy Silverado
If just the right side running light circuit isn't working on your trailer when hooked up to your 2019 Silverado, the issue is most likely coming from somewhere on the trailer since it's isolated to just one side. The most common vehicle-side cause for trailer running lights issues is a blown fuse under the hood, but this would affect both sides. I recommend checking the ground connections on the trailer, both the main harness ground and the individual ground connection of the light assembly...
