Purchased this item before. Great price and wonderful shipping. Will purchase from Etrailer in near future.

This was my first first order with etrailer and found them to be very good to work with. I had questions along the way which were handled expeditiously and resulted in ordering the right parts, which were a perfect fit with my old trailer. Product packaging was fine and the turnaround was fast.
If I was to offer a suggestion, it would be to include some instructions regarding proper lubrication techniques - location and type of lube they'd recommend.

Michael, you could lubricate the bushings if you want to with a multi-purpose grease, but the nylon bushings dont necessarily require lubrication, so there isnt a particular technique. We offer wet bolts that have a grease zerk on them to pump grease through, but other than that, the nylon bushings are designed to provide smooth operation until they wear down to a point where they should be replaced.

The parts I bought from you to repair the suspension on our livestocktrailer did the trick of getting it roadworthy. We dont use it often, butthe couple times weve had it on the road since the repairs have beenuneventful and thats a good thing when you have a couple tons of beef onit.

Fast dependable quality parts

by:

Came in good shape and was what I order ed

by:

The trailer leaf spring kit was exactly the right fit for my trailer and has put us safely back on the road. etrailer helped me pick the right size and understand the options. What I received was a match for my need as my parts were completely trashed. This kit along with the bushings/sleeves made the repair quick and easy at a great price. I am glad that etrailer has knowledgeable folks available to talk through questions and take the guess work out of the purchase.

by:

fit great no problems, seems to be a good quality product, will be able to tell in 10 K miles

by:

Hi George,
The trailer axel hanger kit
that I purchased from you folks worked great!
The bushings were shot in the old ones and the new kit installed easily and solved the problem. Trailer tows like a dream. I will do business with you again if I need parts!
Thank You

Would rate negative if possible. Ordered parts for 4 day delivery found out that parts were delivered to another State and it would take 8 business days for the inquiry to be processed then another week for original package or new one to be sent out. To top it off a refund would also take the same time period. etrailer has put my company in a tough spot without these parts or a refund while claiming that’s the best they can do.

by:

Bought and installed this rebuild kit on a 10 ft. horse trailer turned utility nearly a year ago. Trailer still pulls and rides like brand new after being abused almost daily.
Very pleased with the quality of parts included, and the detailed measurements given in the product descriptions. etrailer is where I will continue to look first for parts.

by:

My tandem axle equalizer kit, is of the highest quality. All the parts and hardware well made and will last for years to come. The combination of the knurled bolts and locking nut give me the piece of mind, that none of the hardware will back out and come off, on the highway. I would highly recommend this kit.

by:

These were an exact replacement for my old trailer and have performed well the past year!

Jcfohio

7/10/2018

They are still performing but are very rusty. I should have put my own paint on them to prolong their life.

by:

They work excellent! The trailer is so much tighter.
When it is empty, you can't even feel it behind me. Except the noise from the ramps.
I also have to thank my buddy Rob, he put a lot of time and labor into getting the trailer in like new condition.
Sorry don't have photos at the moment.

by:

I bought a shackle kit for my car trailer and everything fit absolutely perfect. Super easy to install. I would buy another if I ever need one.

by:

The diagram that is shown below has incorrect dimensions. After all the hangers were mocked up as the given dimensions show the axle center to center distance was 29" not 30". I actually over looked double checking the center to center measurement and had to cut the center and back hangers off and will be moving them.

by:

Fast efficient service, delivery and co st.

by:

Re did my pontoon trailer and it is nice to know they are good for another 30 years of service.

by:

Seems to be quality stuff, Installed it and seems to work well. I will be a repeat customer due to the customer service, which has to be the best of any online retailer!! Thanks again etrailer I will be back as I do lots of hauling and my trailers require frequent maintenance.

  • Replacement Hanger Kit for Trailer with 7-3/4 inch Wide Equalizers
For a hanger/equalizer kit that comes with the same size equalizers you have now the # APT3 would be a great option. It comes with everything needed from the equalizers, the hangers, shackles, and bolts. The price is available at the link below.

  • Does Trailer Suspension 7-3/4 Inch Equalizer EQ-E1 Have a Weight Capacity
Equalizer # TREQE1 does not have a weight capacity itself. It isn't bearing much of the weight compared to other components in a trailer suspension set up. If you have a tandem axle trailer then you could potentially use kit # APT5, # APT3, # APT9, # APT8, # APT7, or # APT3HD. All of these kits have the 7-3/4 inch long equalizers. For a triple axle trailer you could use # APTT5 or # APTT3. All of the above kits also come with hangers. If you do not need hangers then you would need to...

  • Where To Place the Leaf Spring Hangers On a Tandem Axle Trailer
The leaf spring hanger positions are largely dependent on which equalizers and leaf springs you will be using. For example, if you were to use the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs part # APT3 with the 5-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 6,000-lb Trailer Axles part # e34SR. The front and rear leaf spring hanger would need to be placed 29-1/2" in front and behind the center leaf spring hanger. The center leaf spring hanger would then need to be placed in between the two axles....

  • 2 inch Tall Hanger Kit with 5-3/4 inch Long Equalizers
The closest kit we have to what you are looking for is the part # K71-359-00 which is for 1-3/4 inch wide leaf springs, has equalizers that are 5-3/4 inches long bolt center to bolt center, has 2 inch tall hangers, but it has shackles that are a little shorter at 2-1/4 inch and has bronze bushings. It does come with 9/16 inch diameter bolts.

  • Why Is Trailer Suspension Shackle Angled and Not Totally Vertical
You'll want the shackle hanging at a slight angle so that it doesn't want to flip upside down at any point. If it's totally vertical it will want to flip over much easier. Adding an axle certainly could be done while still using the old axle. It would be a matter of getting a tandem hanger kit like part # APT3 with the new axle.

  • Hanger Kit, U-Bolt Kit and Spring Seats for Tandem Axle Trailer with 3-1/2 Inch Diameter Round Axles
A 3-1/2 inch diameter round axle is usually rated at 8,000 pounds but could also be a 3,500 pound axle though this is rare. You can get a more accurate determination of the capacity by getting the inner and outer bearing numbers stamped into the sides of the bearings. For a hanger kit # APT3 will keep the distance from the deck to the axles at a minimum and still have room for suspension travel. You will also need a u-bolt kit, # APUBR-35, for one axle. And you will likely need new spring...

  • Why Do Trailer Hanger/Equalizer Kits all Use Different Height Suspension Hangers
When the suspension hangers, equalizers, and shackles are installed from a kit like the part # APT3 the goal is to have the leaf spring as level as possible. The different height hangers is offset by the height of the equalizer and shackles so that when it's all said and down everything is at a level height. Check out the picture I attached of a kit like this installed to get an idea. The great thing about these kits is that the correct height of everything is already all worked out.

I do have an option for you but I don't have any way of mixing and matching trailer parts to work on your trailer with custom axles, wheels, and brakes from a 1969 Chevy Nova. If you would like to find a way to modify the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # 23-468-469 to fit your trailer like you did for the axles, wheels, and brakes you have now then you are more than welcome to do so but I won't have any advice for this. When replacing trailer leaf springs we strongly recommend you replace them in pairs. I would urge you to get a set of matching properly rated springs for your trailer as soon as possible. If you look on the frame of your trailer there should be a plate with the trailer VIN number and the axle capacities of the trailer. • Leaf Spring and Hanger Kit Recommendation for Tandem Trailer with 5k Axles
Since you are looking to replace everything best thing is to go with a properly rated 5,000 lb per axle leaf spring like you need and then build the parts you need from there. So for a 5k rating 4-leaf spring we have the part # e28SR which is 25-1/4 inches long. This is a very common length. Then for a kit that includes new hangers, shackles, and equalizers we have the tandem suspension kit part # APT3 which would work well.

I think your idea is right on the money. Take the information from the 25-1/4 inch spring hanger spacing and subtract 2 inches. The subtraction will be 1 inch from the front hanger to the center hanger and another 1 inch from the center hanger to the rear hanger. Both of those measurements should be roughly 28-1/2 inches if using hanger kit # APT3. Using u-bolts for 3 inch diameter trailer axles is not a good idea on an axle that is 2-3/4 inches in diameter. There is not a specific torque spec for shackle bolts including the ones in the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit part # APT3. They need to be secure but if they are too tight then the leaf springs will bind and cause problems in your trailer's suspension. The lock nuts included with the kit will ensure the bolts do not fall out. I recommend tightening the nuts until they makes contact with the shackle strap and then add another 1/4 turn. The biggest thing to consider is the stability of the trailer.
