Zinc-plated, corrosion resistant steel D-ring creates an attachment point for tie-down straps and bungee cords wherever you need cargo control. The recessed design allows you to roll cargo over the ring. Includes backing plate and mounting hardware.

Features:

  • Tie-down anchor provides a solid point to secure your cargo with straps or bungee cords
  • D-ring 90-degrees so you can attach straps from multiple angles
  • Recessed design allows cargo to slide over the ring without interference
  • Included backing plate provides greater support than mounting the anchor directly to wood
  • Zinc-plated steel construction resists corrosion and retains its strength through repeated use
  • Simple, bolt-on installation with mounting hardware
    • Includes 4 Nuts, 4 lock washers, and (4) 3/8" x 2-1/4" bolts

Specs:

  • Maximum load (break strength): 5,000 lbs
  • Working load limit: 1,600 lbs
  • Anchor:
    • Bezel dimensions: 4-1/2" wide x 4-7/8" tall
    • Ring diameter: 1/2"
    • Inner ring diameter: 1-3/8"
    • Recess dimensions: 3-3/8" wide x 3/4" deep
    • Bolt hole dimensions: 3/8" wide x 3/8" tall
    • Bolt size: 3/8" diameter x 2-1/4" long
  • Backing plate dimensions: 6-1/2" wide x 6-1/2" tall
  • 1-Year limited warranty

Note: Tie-down anchors must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the anchors being used. For example, if you are using anchors with a WLL of 100 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 400 lbs, then you need at least 4 anchors to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use anchors in pairs.

Seem to be sturdy, but the pivot bolt could have the retaining nut thread on further. Living in a salted winter road state, I substituted stainless carriage bolts and nuts for the zink. I wasn't impressed that the underside retainer plate had a hole the same size as the drilled hole I made in the floor and left the recessed portion of the ring body exposed to the salt. I cut solid plates out of 3/16ths steel plate, epoxy painted them and installed on the bottom to close that off. I know, this is just me protecting what I pay for, but I hate watching my stuff rust to dust too.

I ordered 6 recessed D-rings Monday evening about 8 Pm. They arrived Wednesday morning 10. I live in Northern Wisconsin, That's awesome timing and its just standard shipping with UPS. The installation was good, just make sure you watch the video- It helps! It was easier after the first one - I used a 3 1/4 hole saw, went down to 3 3/4 in. deep. Then chisel it out to the 3/4 mark.
Helpful Hint ---- I used about 1 1/2 hole saw (take the drill out of course) then you use the hole saw in a circular motion to clean up the 3 1/4 hole down to 3/4 deep.
The 4 carriage bolt holes make sure these are straight.
But you can exceed the 3/8 drill size to give you some wiggle room. Which you will need to get the D-Ring straight.

I will use etrailer.com again and again! Very very excellent product and service!

Awesome, Still Strong,And still holding perfect tie downs.

by:

Heavy duty and came with all the hardwa re.

by:

I bought these D-ring anchors for my flatbed trailer. They were super easy to install and have been working great. I would definitely recommend for anyone who needs to add anchors or add additional anchors to their trailer. My trailer sits outside year round and these still look like the day I installed them and function perfectly.

by:

When our gooseneck horse trailer isn't hauling horses we haul dirt bikes and a side-by-side. I installed a couple of the d-rings to tie down the 1,000 pound side-by-side. When ready to load the horses, we just put the rubber mats back in and load. The low profile allows the mats to lay flat. The d-rings met my expectations and would recommend them.

by:

Seems quality built. Installed 8 on my 16ft trailer. Had to kinda get the hang of drilling. Would recommend cutting your 3 1/2 hole, then put the top tie down in, then drill one bolt hole and put the plate on the backside, tightening down one bolt and nut. Try and even it out between top piece and bottom piece, then drill another hole for another bolt and nut. I tried drilling them all first and it didn't work as well.
The tie downs will strap ATV's onto a trailer.

First time using etrailer.com. I used these tie down rings on my flatbed dirtbike trailer. Great product! Comes with all the necessary hardware to install. etrailer's videos and technical write ups make for an easy install. Fast shipping. Thank you etrailer!

by:

Bought 4 of these recessed tie-downs with backing plates to secure my Ural Gear Up while transporting on my trailer. Very pleased with the price and quality. These tie-down points are heavy duty, and the installation video on the etrailer.com website was very helpful. I will shop trailer.com again!

by:

Great heavy duty, flush mount tie down point.

by:

Added these to the snowmobile trailer so that we could use it to tie down other items. Work great and we’re easy to install. Bought and sprayed a undercoating to protect my investment further.

by:

Shipped in a timely manner, as always with you guys. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because these D-rings did not come with any installation instructions, to state that the holes were not square. I had to turn one of the backing plates 90* because of an interference with a bulkhead in my toy hauler. The holes are so close to being square it was hard to pick up on it. Once I discovered that they were not, I trimmed the backing plate to fit, and turned it back 90*, and holes lined up and finished the install. Overall, good product.

by:

This is an awesome product !!! They were easy to install & work very well.I love the fact that they are recessed on my trailer bed so they don’t create a trip hazard & they look good.I would definitely recommend them to anyone that wants a quality, safe product.

by:

Hold downs came last week and I installed the yesterday. The only problem was that the mount holes aren't square. The bottom plate only fits one way, and of coarse it wouldn't fit where I had it. Cut the plate and everything is fine. I mounted them in the corners of my race trailer to hold everything in place going down the road.

by:

I have had 4 of these on my utility trailer for almost a year and they work great. I have tied down everything from a 4 wheeler to a small utility tractor with a loader on it and they hold great. The backing plate makes all the difference when mounting in wood.
I have also carried several loads of compost and there is no corrosion on the tie down ring or the housing.

by:

These tie downs worked great for my side x side tie down. Excellent quality and corrosion protection. Would highly recommend them to everyone. Great delivery service and in a timely manner. Thank you!! Andy

by:

I am very satisfied with this product. It was easy to install especially with the installation video on Youtube. It has worked great so far.

Looks great. Excellent replacement for the factory OEMl

by:

These anchors are excellent come with all hardware and are easy to bolt up thanks to the the carriage bolts. You will need a 3.5 inch hole saw. I got a cheap [store] hole saw and installed these in 3/4 plywood. These are very heavy duty.

by:

Very sturdy, I know I can depend on these to keep my laid safe.

by:

These are great tie downs and easy to install if you have the slightest mechanical ability.

by:

Heavy duty D rings with great under floor reinforcement plate!

by:

Good quality and fast service.

by:

Wow! A great product delivered with great service. I bought these tie down anchors to replace the four original anchors in my enclosed trailer. The originals were soft steel or aluminum, and within a year had bent or stretched at key stress points, becoming unreliable. The pictures don't do these anchors justice. They are high quality, stout, heavy steel anchors with an equally heavy backing plate with quality hardware. Installation was easy following eTrailer's video. And, they shipped immediately. I couldn't be more pleased with the product and the experience.

A year and many tie-downs later, my anchors are as stout, secure, and as reliable as ever. These are a quality product.

by:

Although I have tie down hooks on the raised sides of my trailer, I purchased 6 of the Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchors and mounted them to the wood deck of my 5 x 8 utility trailer; 3 ea. along each side. I used a router to recess the plate portion and a drill to cut out for the cup part in order for the unit to sit down flush with the wood deck to prevent catching the blade of my flat shovel on the metal plate. By drilling the mounting bolt holes through and through, it was an easy matter to line up the backing plate on the bottom side of the wood deck. Note: There is a water drain hole in the bottom of the Tie Down 'cup.' Be sure to drill a corresponding hole through the wood deck so the water has someplace to drain. I am noticing just a bit of rusting, but the ring still lifts and drops with no problem.

by:

Service and shipping was excellent. Installed them today.Watched the video and had no problems. Tie down anchors were just like they were describe. I don't think I will have any problems hauling my bikes. The price was great and they come with all the hardware. I plan on doing more business with e trailer.

  • Installation of Brophy Recessed Trailer D-Ring Tie Down # RR5K on Toy Hauler Wood Floor
To install the Brophy Recessed Trailer D-Ring Tie Down with Backing Plate, part # RR5K, you will drill a 3-1/4 inch hole in the plywood floor for the tie-down to be recessed into the plywood floor. Then, you will mark where the holes for the 4 bolts are to be located and drill 4 holes for the bolts. The backing plate will install underneath the plywood floor using the 2-1/4 inch long bolts that go through the 4 holes and use lock washers and nuts. The backing plate is 6-1/2 inches x 6-1/2...

  • How To Install The Brophy Trailer D-Ring Tie Down, # RR5K, On A Wood Trailer Floor
You can attach the Brophy Recessed Trailer D-Ring Tie Down with Backing Plate, # RR5K, most anywhere on a trailer. The recessed D-Ring is designed to be recessed in a wood surface (floor, wall) and using the steel backing plate will make a stronger tie down point. To be able to recess the tie down ring in the wood you will have to drill a 3-1/4 inch hole in the wood and then, using the backing plate as a template, drill the 4 holes for the mounting bolts. Then, with the steel backing...

  • Can the Recessed Trailer D-Ring Tie Down with Backing Plate be Used on an Aluminum Trailer Floor
The backing plate that comes with the tie down, # RR5K, is strong enough for its 5,000 pound capacity so no additional support is needed for it. I recommend placing the tie downs so that the are over the frame of the trailer where the most support is. If they are bolted to the frame, that would be the strongest point.

  • Parts Needed to Add a Storage Hatch on Enclosed Trailer
It's exactly what you said, a hatch in the floor for some extra storage. Probably for ratchet straps to secure cargo in the trailer. If you wanted to build your own (provided you have enough ground clearance to safely do so) you can use the Paneloc Butt Hinge # H418-204U and then the Trailer Rope Ring # RR02 for a handle. Hardware and trim would need to be acquired at your local hardware store though.

The orientation of the backing plate on the Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor w Backing Plate part # RR5K does not matter. I called my contact at C.R. Brophy Machine Works to confirm this as well. The reason one side is longer is because different situations will require different clearances. Whichever way gives you the most clearance will be the way you will want to install it. The Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor - Bolt-On - 3-1/2" Wide - Surface Mount - 1,600 lbs # SR15-C are steel anchors with a zinc finish. Although the zinc finish will help avoid galvanic corrosion from dissimilar metals, the connection by drilling into the aluminum frame is not the best option.
