Self-adjusting driver-side electric brake is 12" x 2". Brake pads are made of durable friction material for improved braking and longevity. E-coated backing plate resists rust. Fits 14-1/2", 15", 16", 16-1/2" wheels.

Features:

  • Electric brakes are easier to install and offer more user control than hydraulic brakes
    • Requires only an electric brake controller (sold separately) - no actuator or hydraulic lines necessary
  • Automotive-grade friction material is molded to brake shoes
    • Pads are fully bonded - not riveted - to shoes for long life and more braking torque
    • Less chance of cracking and crumbling that can lead to mechanical lockup, thanks to tapered edge and circular grinding
  • Self-adjusting brake does not require periodic manual adjustment like standard brakes
    • Fine-tooth brake adjustment gear allows for a more precise setting
  • E-coated backing plate resists wear and corrosion
  • Adjuster plugs (included) cover access holes to keep dirt and grime out of the assembly and off of the shoes
  • Mounting bolts and hardware (BRKH12S) sold separately
  • QAI and CSA certified

Specs:

  • Application: most standard hub-and-drum assemblies, including Dexter, Lippert (LCI), and AL-KO

  • Dimensions: 12" diameter x 2" wide
  • Mounting flange bolt pattern: 5 bolt
  • Wheel size: 14-1/2", 15", 16", and 16-1/2"

  • Limited 1-year warranty

Self-Adjusting Brake Doesn't Require Routine Adjustment

Standard electric brake assemblies require manual adjustment of the brake shoes over time to provide longer-lasting and more efficient braking performance. With self-adjusting brakes, the brake shoes are always properly aligned, so there's no need to manually adjust the brakes after the initial adjustment. As a result, you get optimum performance without having to take the time to continually perform this type of maintenance.

Thoroughly Tested for Safety

This brake assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This brake assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This brake has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

Automotive-Grade Friction Material

Each shoe on this brake assembly is lined with automotive-grade friction material for improved stopping performance and longevity. The friction material is fully bonded onto the surface of the brake shoe. This lining is custom-molded for a perfect fit. The edges are tapered to ensure long-lasting performance. This taper, along with the circular grinding that the lining undergoes, helps to prevent cracking and crumbling. This durability helps to prevent mechanical lockup, which can occur when brake shoes are excessively worn or broken.

The friction material is also SAE-N certified, which means that it is an environmentally safe product that complies with California and Washington regulations regarding the composition of brake pads. As a result, this material not only provides high-performance braking that can endure the test of time, but it is also environmentally friendly and safe for use throughout the United States and Canada.

They were packed in paper in a big box. Packaging was very poor! The UPS guy dropped the box hard on the front porch and damaged one or 2 of the brake assemblies. I will have to determine which are good and which are damaged...

by:

Great replacement. Perfect fit.

by:

I'm probably not the best mechanic that there is but these brake assemblies were very easy to install,it probably took me about an hour per wheel to install, great service from a person named Michelle that helped me to get them shipped quickly, thanks, I would definitely recommend this company for all of your trailer parts....

Doing just great have only pulled our trailer about 6,000 miles and no problems

by:

Product is great and easy to set up however the packaging from which it was sent as was a little less desirable from my seals getting dented and brake assemblies where thrown around in box with tears in box but all should be usable

Oh no. So, I have looked into the notes on your order and it looks like only one was ordered. Awe man, I am so sorry that this happened. Let's get another one ordered and sent out to you right away. I have sent your information over to customer service for them to get this taken care of; you should hear from them within the next 24-48 hours. When you finally receive the rest of what you need, I would love to hear your updated feedback for your project.

2 out of 4 were perfect the other 2 had issue's being I used to work on brakes i took care of it my self including the nicked wire

by:

Quick service and exactly what I needed!

by:

To team etrailer,
So far,so good. The
complete units were easy to install, although some of the brake assembly units were out of place and had to be reset from shipping and ruff handling. Here are some pictures of the 44 ft pace rig. We have already recommend you to many of our peers. We travel to about 20 events per year and in all kind of traffic conditions, we will let you know how they slow down the unit.
Thanks Al and Matt

by:

Although trailer is not on the road yet the brakes are a exact match and mounted perfectly.

by:

Easy to install.
When seals fail they
send grease all over the brake asy.

This was easy fix

by:

Product arrived quickly, easy to install. I put them on all 4 wheels of our 5 wheel camper. It was cheaper and easier to do it this way than to replace shoes and magnets.

by:

Our Flat bed trailer can do some pretty heavy work however we do not use this trailer all the time.
When the brakes failed we ordered from etrailer and the parts came in and we installed them without much ado.
Thank you for having all the parts we needed. After a year of seldom but heavy usage the self adjusting brakes are still working splendidly.

by:

These kits make repairs much easier than replacing just the shoes and provide all new hardware.
Very satisfied with the assistance and response from Etrailer to help me get the parts to fix my RV.

by:

Shipping took entirely to long

by:

first, Thank you Kate for all of your help. The brake assy worked perfect.

by:

I don't usually do product reviews but wanted to post this one. This was my first purchase from etrailer. I purchased all four brake assemblies for our 5th wheel which I felt was the easiest and best way to go and had my drums machined. It was a very easy transaction, the parts came quickly and fit as they should. Very pleased with the product although I have not put the trailer on the road yet.
BUT- The packaging was very poor. The assemblies were in a carton twice as big as it needed to be without adequate packing and the items rattled around to the point that two shoes were knocked out of place on the backing plates. I was able to correct it and no damage done, this time. Please improve your packaging.
I would definitely buy from etrailer again.

all good, over 6000 mi and no problems. thanks

by:

I purchased the brake assemblies last spring but did not get around to installing on our 5th wheel trailer this past fall. Packaging was sufficient & all parts were there & in place on the backing plates. The install went well, brakes are working good.I looked up online a brake in procedure for the shoe assemblies & followed it which helped out after the install.Overall I'm pleased with the price of the product, the service from etrailer aswell.

Brake assemblies working great,I like dealing with etrailer. Also good information from reps.

by:

The brakes on my 2002 Komfort 24-TS trailer were completely shot. I needed to replace the drums (cheaper than having them turned). I also needed to replace the electric brake assemblies and to upgrade them from manual to automatic adjusting. I called etrailer.com a couple of times to make sure I was ordering the rights parts and the phone reps were very helpful and courteous. The parts arrived on time and in good shape. I had everything I needed to complete the job. It took me all day to do all 4 wheels but I saved myself a whopping $1,000 over having the shop do the job.

by:

Only had to replace one. Will be checking all again this summer when I re-pack my bearings.

by:

Arrived as advertised. Easy to install with the aid of the online Trailer video.

by:

Bought this backing plate to replace grease soaked brakes on Lippert 2016 7000 lb. axle. Since no one sells just the brake linings, I had to buy the whole assembly. Exact match of the Lippert backing plate. Very easy to replace.

After about 7000 miles still working good

by:

They work like advertised and are of good quality, I haven't had them long enough to to know about the self adjusting feature but it looks just like all the rest so I don't know why it wouldn't work. Thanks for getting them to me so quickly.

by:

Great customer service! Quick notification of a part that would cause me a delay and they provided some options to work around that delay. Very quick reply and shipping when a part was damaged in transit.

by:

They fit just like original equipment. Could not imagine doing brakes on a trailer a different way. I don't know how they can sell these brake kits this Cheap !!!!!

by:

The shipping time was very quick. It was really less expensive and trouble to replace the entire brake assembly than just the shoes.

  • How To Determine Correct Braking Assemblies for Tow Master Trailer with Unknown Axle Capacity
It is not required to know the axle capacity when selecting the correct replacement barking assemblies for a trailer axle though it does help. If you want to try and determine this you can look for a sticker on the center of the beam or measure the diameter of the beam assuming it is indeed a round axle tube. The smaller 3,500 lb axles usually have a 2-3/8" diameter whereas the larger 5,200 lb and 7,000 lb axles usually have a 3" diameter. That said, if you know the size of your braking...
