Today we're going to review part number 8-285-11. This is the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum. This is designed for 8,000 pound axles, has the 8 on 6 1/2" bolt pattern, and is made for the easy lube axle. Now this trailer hub and drum that fits the 8,000 pound axles, this single hub and drum has a weight capacity of 4,000 pounds, so when it's matched with on on the other side of your axle, give you a total weight capacity of 8,000 pounds to match the axle rating. Now this part number is just for the single hub and drum. It does need the bearings, the seal, and the grease cap, which we do sell separately, but it does include the bearing races as you can see, which are pre-installed here on the outer. more

Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Brake Assembly Installation- Video
Today on our trailer we're going to be installing the Dexter 10 Inch Nev-R-Adjust Electric Brake Assemblies with 3,500 pound axels. For the right hand side it's part number 23-469, and for the left hand side is part number 23-248. We'll also be installing the Dexter Axle Trailer Hub and drum assembly for 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern part number 84656UC3. The insulation is exactly the same whether you're installing on the left hand side or the right hand side. You just need to make sure that you use the proper break assembly for the proper side of the trailer. We'll begin by removing wheel and tire. Next we're going to need to remove the dust cover. We'll then need to remove the cotter pin here. Go ahead and bend the tabs up on the cotter pin. Then we'll pull it out. We'll then remove the castle nut. more

Dexter Axle Trailer Hubs and Drums - Hub with Integrated Drum - 8-247-50 Review- Video
Today we're going to review part number 8-247-50, this is the Dexter trailer hub and drum for 3,500-pounds axles, has the five on four and a half-inch bolt pattern, and has the Galdex finish. This is a marine-grade trailer hub and drum assembly that'll fit axles with drum brakes. It does include the inner and outer races, they are all pre-installed. It does require bearings, grease seal, grease cap and lug nuts that we do sell separately. If you notice, has a silver finish to it, this is the Galdex finish, which is a zinc plating that they use on the hub and and the studs, has a 500-hour salt spray rating. It is ideal for use on a boat or snowmobile trailer and it is durable enough for salt water applications. Again, the application for this hub and drum is 3,500-pound axles with the number 84 spindles and the drum brakes. The drum diameter or the drum dimension is 10 inches in diameter and the width is two and a quarter inches wide. This is designed to work with the electric and hydraulic brake assemblies of the same size. more

Dexter Trailer Hub Assembly Installation 84655UC1- Video
Today on our horse trailer, we're going to be installing the Dexter Trailer Hub Assembly for 3,500-lb axles with a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern, part number 84655UC1. We'll first begin by removing the wheel from the old hub. Next we'll need to remove the old hub. To do this, we'll first remove the dust cap. We'll then need to remove the cotter pin as well as the castle nut. Then go ahead and slide the hub outward, pulling the flat washer and the outer bearing off, then we can go ahead and pull the rest of the hub assembly off. Your flat washer, as well as the castle nut will need to be reused from the old hub assembly. more

Now this galvanized marine-grade trailer hub assembly will fit the Easy Lube axles, and includes everything shown here, the bearings, the races, which are already preinstalled in the hub, the double-lip grease seal, the Easy Lube center cap, and the lug nuts. Now this is designed to fit on the Easy Lube axles, and basically the Easy Lube design will make lubricating your bearings very simple. Basically what happens is, when your cap is on there, all you have to do is remove this rubber plug that's in the center, and that will give you access to that grease zirc fitting that will be on the end of an Easy Lube spindle. more

Now, this assembly is an oil bath hub design. It is used on ALCO and Hayes 10,000 pound disc brake axles. It does come with the bearing races already pressed in, pre-installed, for the inner and outer bearing. This has a Gal-Dex finish, which is a zinc coating. Basically, this is a marine grade trailer hub and drum assembly, that will fit axles with drum brakes. It includes everything showing here, the bearings, the bearing races, which are pre-installed on the drum, the double lip seal, the E-Z lube grease cap and the lug nuts. I mentioned it has a Gal-Dex zinc and basically this coating has a 500 hour salt spray rating. Today we are going to review part number T1544600042. This is the Titan trailer hub and drum assembly for 3500 pound axles with the 5 on 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now this trailer hub and drum assembly will fit on axles that have an electric or hydraulic brakes. It does include everything show in here, the bearings, the races which are pre-installed into the drum, the double lip grease seal, the grease cap and the lug nuts and again basically this application is for 3500 pound axles with electric or hydraulic brakes. The drum dimension is measured on the inside via 10 inch diameter and a two and a quarter inch width. Basically just to show you where that measurement is taken, we do the inside to inside diameter, that is going to be right at 10 inches and then again the width, we'll just measure the width across and we can see it's right at two and a quarter inches. Basically this will fit on brake assemblies that are listed as a 10 by two and a quarter inch brake assembly. more

Now, this application will fit most 2,000-pound axles that have a 1-1/16-size spindle and hydraulic brakes. The drum dimension on this is 7 inches in diameter, 1-3/4 inches wide. I just want to show you how that's measured. Basically, the diameter will be measured inside to inside, so 7 inches. more

Today we're going to review part number 845476UC3-EZ. This is the Dexter trailer hub and drum assembly for 3500 pound easy lube axles with the 5-14 and 3/4-inch bolt pattern. This trailer hub and drum assembly will fit on easy lube axles with electric or hydraulic brakes. It includes everything shown here, the bearings, the bearing races, which are already pre-installed into the assembly themselves, the double up grease seal, the easy lube grease cap, and the lug nuts. This is designed to go on an easy lube axle and basically that easy lube design will make lubricating your bearings very simply. Basically what you would do after this is all installed and you have your cap installed, what you do is you remove this rubber plug, which is right in the middle of the cap here, and that will give you full access to that grease a Zerk fitting that is on the end of a spindle on an easy lube axle. With that exposed, you can put your grease gun onto that Zerk fitting, pumping your grease and that would lubricate your bearings so you don't have to be taking your hub and drum assembly off your axle. more

Today, we're going to review part number 8-201-5UC3. This is the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 5,200-pound axles with a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now, this trailer hub and drum assembly will fit on axles that use electric or hydraulic brakes. It includes all the parts showing here, the bearings, the bearing races, which are already pre-installed on the front and the back of the hub assembly, the grease seal, the grease cap, and the lug nuts. Again, this application will fit 5,200-pound axles that'll have spindles that require a 2-1/8 inch inside diameter or 2-1/4 inch inside diameter grease seal, and again, they can be used on axles that have electric or hydraulic brakes. The drum dimension on this would be 12-inch diameter, which is side to side this way, and a 2-inch wide measurement, which is the width right here of the brake drum. Just to show you how that's measured, the diameter will be inside the inside, so that's 12 inches, and the width will be right at 2 inches. Again, the brakes that this will fit over, the brake assembly will normally be listed as a 12 x 2 inch brake assembly, so that's what this drum would fit over. more

Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly Installation 84556UC3- Video
Today on our utility trailer, we'll be installing a Dexter axle, trailer hub and drum assembly, Part Number 84556UC3. We'll begin here by removing the wheel as well as the old drum and brake assembly. To remove the old drum, we'll need to first remove the dust cover. A large flat-head screwdriver works good to work in behind the edge, just kind of pry it out. We will be replacing the whole drum assembly, the bearings, as well as the lug nuts and the dust cover. We will need to save the castle nut and there is a flat washer behind it. In order to remove the castle nut, we'll need to take this cotter pin out right here, so we'll go ahead and bend it back. more

The bolt pattern is the 5 lugs on 4 inch bolt pattern. This hub and drum assembly does come with the lug nuts, does come with the inner bearing which is part number L68149, comes with the outer bearing which is part number L44649, comes with the greased seal, part number 58846, and it also comes with the grease cap. more

TruRyde Electric Brake Assembly Installation- Video
Today were going to install part number TRBK10E01 from TruRyde. This is their Electric Trailer Brake for Left Hand Side. Were going to start off our install with the idler hub already removed from the trailer. This trailer previously did not have brakes so were going to add brakes to the trailer. Now if we add brakes to this trailer axle due to the fact that it has a brake flange already installed located here. The brake is very to install, Ill just make sure the mag is pointing at the bottom. more

Today we're going to take a quick look at the Dexter Axle Trailer Hub Assembly part number 845475uc1-ez. This hub has a gross capacity of 1,750 pounds so when paired up with another it will have a total capacity of 3,500 pounds, which makes it a good application for 3,500 pound axles. There are 5 studs pressed into our hub. They're on a 5 on 4 3/4 bolt pattern. If we measure from the center of one stud to the center of the next we'll get a 2 3/4 inch measurement, which tells us that it's a 5 on 4 3/4 pattern. Today we're going to take a quick look at the Dexter Axle Trailer Hub Assembly part number 8-91-05uc1. This idler hub is designed to fit 2,000 pound axles. It's got a 4 on 4 bolt pattern. If we're able to measure from the center of one lug, or one bolt, to the center of the other we get a measurement of 4 inches. Now included with the idler hub are the races, which are already pressed in inside the hub where they need to be. You'll also find the inner and outer bearings, in this case they're both number L44649; a grease seal, in this case it's 10-9; a grease cap that will go on the outside; and you'll also find the four conical lug nuts to go with our studs. more

Today were going to review part number 8-219-4UC3. This is the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly with an 8 on 6-1/2-inch bolt pattern for 1/2-inch studs. This trailer Hub and Drum Assembly will include your eight 1/2-inch cone seat lug nuts. It will include the inner bearing, part number 25580, it will include the outer bearing part number 14125A, it will include the grease seal which is a 2-1/8 inch diameter grease seal, and will also include the grease cap which goes over the hub right there. Now the bearing races are included also. They are already installed, pressed into the hub. more

Today, we're going to take a quick look at Titan's 5 on 4-1/2 Complete Hub and Drum Assembly, part number T1554500042. This assembly is designed to work with hydraulic trailer brake applications. It's got a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern. There are five studs and if we measure from the center of one to the center of the next, we get 2-5/8, which means we have a 5 on 4-1/2 pattern. Included with the hub and drum are the races which were already pressed in the main bore. You also get five conical lug nuts, a grease seal, your inner and outer bearings, and finally, your cap for the end. more

Today, we're going to take a quick look at Dexter Axles, Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly, part number 84656UC3. This hub and drum assembly has a capacity of 1750 pounds so when paired with another one, it will have a gross capacity of 3500 pounds and it should be used with 3500-pound axles. There are six studs around the hub of the drum. If we were to measure directly across from one stud to the other, we'd get 5-1/2 inches, hence, our 6 and 5-1/2 pattern. The races come with the hub and drum assembly and they're already pressed into place. Also included are the six conical lug nuts, your grease cap, your grease seal, inner bearing number L68149 and outer bearing number L44649. more

Today, we're going to take a quick look at Dexter Axles, Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly, part number 8-385-81SP. This hub and drum assembly is designed to be used on Dexter 50-mm Nev-R lube axles. That has a capacity of 3500 pounds so when paired up with another one, you'll have an axle capacity of 7000 pounds. It has an 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern. If we were to measure from one stud in the center directly across to the center of the other stud, we get about 6-1/2 inches for our 8 and 6-1/2 inches bolt pattern. The bearings, races and seal are all included and pre-fitted into the center of the hub. more

This hub and drum assembly has a capacity of 2200 pounds and it uses a 4 on 4 bolt pattern. There are four studs and if we're able to accurately measure from the center of one stud directly across to the center of the other stud, we get about 4 inches. Inside the hub bore, you'll find that the races are already pressed in. You will need to use a grease seal sold separately, part number 10-9 and two bearings also sold separately, part number L44649 and that will be your inner and outer bearing, and you also need to source the grease cap. Today were going to review part number 8-257-5UC3-EZ. This is the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 2000 lb axles with electric brakes. This part does come with the inner and outer bearings, in this case it will be the same part number, L44649. It comes with the part number 10-9 grease seal. It comes with the five 1/2-inch cone seat lug nuts and the E-Z lube grease cap that fits on the outer edge of your hub there. And the reason this is an E-Z lube grease cap is because the center is actually a rubber plug that can be removed to gain access to the zerk fitting when you grease your spindle. more

This Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum is designed for 2000 lb trailer axles with electric brakes. The drum size is a 7-inch by 1-3/4. This will work with the part number 23-47 and part number 23-48 electric brake assemblies. This hub will only fit with the 1-1/4 inch brake shoes and will not fit with the 1-3/4 inch brake shoes. more
