Compatibility of Carlisle Electric/Hydraulic Actuator with OEM Brake Controller on 2008 GMC Sierra
Question:
I have 2008 GMC Sierra 1 ton dually crew cab with auto braking. I have a 28 ft GN trailer with Carlisle 314253 actuator and Hercules Hyd brakes. What do I need to do to get brakes to work? Will I have to ad another controller? Hope not.

Are you sure about that Carlisle part number? I Googled the number and was unable to find any reference to the 314253 part number you provided. We carry the # HBA16 and the # HBA-10, which aren't compatible with the OEM GM brake controller on your truck, but Carlisle offers an adapter, part # HBA-CAM, that would allow the OEM brake controller to work with Carlisle Generation 6 and newer HydraStar or Cargo Towing Solutions electric over hydraulic brake actuators. If you have a # HBA-10 with a serial number 313800 or higher, a # HBA-12 with a serial number 705700 or higher or a # HBA-16 with a serial number 506100 or higher, the HBA-CAM would be compatible.
Is it possible you've got the wrong number off your actuator? Or could that be the serial number?
