There are a few things that you will want to take into consideration when determine the towing capacity of your 2014 Dodge 2500 Ram Mega Cab.
First, you will need to find the Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) of your Ram. This may be located on a spec label on the inside of your door or in your owners manual if you have one. A local Dodge dealer can also find this rating with the VIN.
Once you have your GCWR, you simply subtract the Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of your Ram, which can also be found on the spec label. The GVW includes the weight of the Ram plus the weight of any passengers and cargo. The difference will be your Rams towing capacity.
You will want to make sure you do not exceed the towing capacity for your Dodge Ram. Based on the numbers you provided for weight of your trailer, you may want to look at the 3500.
Once you decide on the truck you want to buy, you can let me know what you decided on and I will be happy to help make some recommendations that will work for you.
