Recommended Base Rails For A 2005 Chevy Silverado 3500 Dually With A Husky 24k Hitch

Question:

Get the expert for this one lol. 05 duramax 3500 dually. Bought it from a lady a few years ago, she had a 16k husky installed on it. I got a 20k trailer and bought a 24k husky hitch for it. Guy at the shop said it would line up, didn’t. So we temporarily swapped parts on them to make it work. Safety traveled 50 miles. Now, is there anything I am missing or can I just install husky rails the same width and length as the 24k hitch? I want to get it done right and safely. Thanks guys. My shop guy is losing my trust and I’m done with that game

It sounds to me like you possibly had some non-ISR rails in your bed and that were only compatible with that 16k Husky hitch that the previous owner had. You're going to want to first confirm that your hitch will fit ISR (Industry Standard Rails) and then swap out your base rails to safely tow your trailer and end any doubt about safety.

If your hitch is compatible with ISR rails then I recommend the B&W Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # BWRVK2500. These rails come with custom brackets to reduce installation time by working with the factory holes in your truck's frame.

If your hitch is not compatible with ISR rails there should be a specific set from Husky that you could install instead.
