Now Id like to add the basic wiring to control the lights on a small trailer simple trailer, no brakes. 2012 models are conspicuously absent from your product or. Even the 2013, which is used in the demo video, is not possible to pick the product or. What do I do?

In order to install trailer wiring on your 2012 BMW X3, I recommend taking a look at the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT. This kit uses a powered converter with circuit protection to safeguard your vehicle and the module.
Even though this is a universal wiring harness, this harness has been specifically tested on the 2012 model by the manufacturer, therefore it is listed as a confirmed fit on our website for your vehicle.
I have attached the installation video of the # 119250KIT being installed on the other BMW's but they are X5's and not X3's. They can give you an idea of the general install process.
