Question:
How does this hitch effect youre has milage? Those plastic covers are there for a reason. To keep the turbulence down under the car. Does having this hitch on there effect that?

Expert Reply:
The plastic appearance panel on your 2010 Toyota Prius will stay in place with Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24847 installed so you won't have to worry about that.
The hitch will add some extra weight to the vehicle, less than 25 pounds, and minimal drag, if any. If you are in to hypermiling then you might be able to notice a slight decrease in mileage, if there is any at all. The way a person drives a vehicle has more affect on fuel economy than adding a hitch would.
Please consult the vehicle owners manual regarding towing information if you plan on using the hitch for towing. You will need the recommended ball mount and you could use 1-7/8 inch ball # 19256 or 2 inch ball # 19258. And for trailer wiring use # 118505. I have included links to the right to videos showing installations of the hitch and wiring for you.
