Trailer Hitch And Wiring Recommendation For 2012 Hyundai Sonata
Question:
I have a 2012 Hyundai Sonata (not a hybrid) and want to buy a small tent camping trailer quicksilver lining lite 8.1 with a weight capacity of 904#s according to Hyundai. The trailer is 1000#s. Will one of your hitches work? I think the tougue weight is 150#s for the trailer. Any information you could provide would be helpful. Thank you.

You will first want to check your owner's manual or with your dealership to make sure you can tow with your 2012 Hyundai Sonata.
We do offer trailer hitches that are designed to fit your Sonata. I recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 24965. This is a Class l trailer hitch and has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. I have attached the install details for this hitch you can check out.
For a ball mount I recommend part # 3593. This ball mount can be used with either a 2-1/8 inch rise or a 2-3/4 inch drop. I also recommend a pin and clip, part # PC2.
For a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball I recommend part # 19256. If you need a 2 inch hitch ball then you can order part # 19258.
If you have no trailer connector at the rear of your Sonata, I recommend the Curt T-Connector # C56049 since you have the non-hybrid model.
When working with electrical connectors, I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the connections and helps prevent corrosion.
I have also included a helpful article that explains what is needed to tow a trailer.
