Trailer Tail Light Wire Functions and Trailer Connector Wire Functions  

Question:

I have a question about wiring lights to utility trailer! can anyone give me some info. Heres my question my wiring harness has brown and yellow wire running to drivers side, passenger side has green and brown wires. the tail lights have green, black and yellow wires coming out of them. what color connects to what.what is the black wire for????

You have what is called a wishbone connector on your trailer. These connectors have 2 running light wires, one for each side of the trailer (that is what the brown wires are). Yellow is left turn and brake lights, green is right turn and brake lights. And like I mentioned above, the brown wires are the running lights.

The tail light with the yellow wire should be the left side and the yellow wire is for turn signal/brake lights. The tail light with green is the right side and the green wire is right turn/brake lights. That would mean the black wires are the running light wires.

If each of the tail lights has all 3 wires then check the back of the lights where the wires go into the light assemblies. It is likely that the functions of the wires are listed.
