Does the 12 Volt Accessory Circuit Need to be Run to Install ETBC7 for Trailer Brakes to Activate
Question:
I have a open car trailer that I have just installed electric breaks on and it only has breaks and lights. I am using the ETBC7 kit to turn my 4 pull connector to a 7 which will allow for the breaks. It does not appear to me that I have to hook up the 12 volt hot lead? Is this needed for anything other then aux power to the trailer? If I do not need it I prefer to not have it hot and I can hook it up latter if needed. Am I correct in thinking I do not need this for my instillation?

Yes you are correct. If you do not need the 12 volt auxiliary circuit for the trailer you are towing it wound not need to be connected for your trailer lights and brakes to function.
If you wanted to later install the 12 volt circuit you would be able to as well.
