Recommended Replacement Trailer Bunks for Boat Trailer

Question:

Hi. My trailer bunks need replacing. They are 6-1/2 feet long by 2thick by 6inch wide. I can only find trailer bunks for 5, 6, 7, by 4foot wide and 8foot long by 6inch wide. Can I use a different size as replacement? Recommendations? Thank you,

Helpful Expert Reply:

Yes you can use a different size roller bunks as a replacement.

You can mount the Boat Trailer Deluxe Roller Bunks, # DL21741, directly to the top of your existing wooden bunks. If mounted in this fashion you will not need any brackets. You will want to make sure the roller bunks will be able to handle the weight capacity of your boat. The weight capacity of the set of two roller bunks is 3,000 lbs.

I would recommend stainless steel mounting screws, available at a local hardware store, to attach the roller bunks to your wooden bunks.

If you want to remove the wooden bunks, you will need to use the Boat Trailer Roller Bunk Brackets, # DL21742, to install the roller bunks on. I would recommend stainless steel hardware to attach the brackets to the trailer and roller bunks also.
