Weight Capacity of Titan Hitch Box Extension and Reducer for 2-1/2-Inch Trailer Hitches # RP45292

Question:

I have a 2014 GMC 2500 HD and am looking at extending the 2 1/2inch hitch box so I can haul a golf car in my short bed truck, I notice this extender comes 24inch long up to 34inch long, I dont think I would need 24. Does anyone make one thats a little shorter, or can you get a 2 1/2inch hitch bar and head to use with a Reese hitch? My trailer is about 8500 lbs. Is there anything that would work for me and be safe as well, My tongue weight is about 900 lbs. I really believe a 12inch to 14inch extension would be enough to do what I need, but I dont know how to figure what the maximum hitch weight would be for a 12inch or 14inch extension. I assume I could cut down the 24-34inch extension you sell. any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I know I cant be the first one, wanting to do something like this. Thank you

The Draw-Tite Titan Hitch Box Extension and Reducer for 2-1/2-Inch Trailer Hitches # RP45292 is rated for 4500-lb trailers when used at its full length of 34-inches and 6000-lbs when cut down to 24-inches. Both of these ratings increase if weight distribution is employed.

My contact at Draw-Tite advised that this item cannot be cut down below the 24-inch length. They do not currently offer a similar 2-1/2-inch to 2-inch reducer extension in the 12- to 14-inch length you require.
