Roof Rack and Kayak Carrier Recommendation for 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe with Sun Roof

Question:

Do you have any type of crossbars that would fit on a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. The vehicle has a sun roof. Or can you attach a complete roof carrier on the bars so the sun roof can be open with extra height from the carrier. I want to carry 2 kayaks.

Vehicles like your 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe with its large glass sunroof can pose a challenge to transporting large items such as a pair of kayaks. We do offer a range of different types of kayak carriers, ones that require a rack and ones that do not, but it is unlikely that any of them will allow you to open/close your sun roof with the rack and/or kayak carriers in place.

It is a good idea to first check your owner's manual for any indications as to the Santa Fe's rooftop weight bearing capacity. You will also need to know the total weight of your two kayaks.

If your sunroof is rated to carry weight, and if it can handle the total weight of your two kayaks, you can use a simple, lightweight and cost-effective foam block type carrier such as the Rightline # RL100K10. These can be used with or without a roof rack in place. A link is provided at right that will let you see all such foam block kayak carriers.

We also do offer roof racks for all versions of the Santa Fe, Sport, Limited or GLS. These can be seen on the other link. Click on the type of roof you have to see compatible rack systems. For example, if you have a Limited or GLS with flush mounted rails that run front to back you can use the Rhino-Rack elliptical bar system consisting of parts # RRVA137B-2 and # RRSX032.

Then you can use the third link to select a kayak carrier that fits that shape of cross bar, such as the
SportRack Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs # SR5511.

I have linked several product videos for your review.
