Adding an extension introduces another component in between the receiver and the ballmount or hitch accessory. Because of this, getting a certain amount of wobble is unavoidable. If you're using the extension for a hitch mounted accessory, you can use an anti-rattle device like part # BX88224.
However, keep in mind that using an extender will lower the tongue weight capacity of your hitch by 50 percent.

If you'll be towing, you'd be better off using a longer ball mount, if the longer ball mounts we offer have a suitable rise/drop for your needs. The # BM20 provides 3/4 inches of rise or 2 inches of drop. The ball mount offers 16 inches of extension between the ball hole and the hitch pin hole. For a larger rise/drop, check out # D-28 which offers 4 inches of rise and 6 inches of drop. Since the ball mount is a single piece, a locking anti-rattle hitch pin like # 63232 would be pretty effective.
