How to Wire a Trailer with a 4-Way that Has 5 Wires

Question:

I have a 4 wire plug on my jeep. I have 5 wires coming from my trailer.Trailer has a whiteground, yellow/brown, green/brown, yellow, and green. I tried the browns together brown , yellow brown, green brown, yellow to yellow and green to green, white ti white. I get tail lights but no brake or turn signals. Where did I go wrong?

The wires on your trailer are most likely:

White being ground and will run to the pin that is jacketed by itself on the 4-way
Yellow/brown is the left side running light circuit gets run to the pin next to the ground circuit
Green/brown is the right side running light circuit also gets run to the pin next to the ground circuit
Yellow will be the stoplight/turn signal for the left side and gets run to the pin next to the running light circuit
Green will be the stoplight/turn signal for the right side and gets run to the pin on the opposite end of ground strap
