Troubleshooting the Anti-Rattle Device of a Thule Apex 5 Bike Rack part # TH9026
Question:
I have a Nissan Murano 2007 with a 2inch hole. I purchased a Thule Apex 5 bike and have been satisfied until I cannot tighten the anti-rattle knob to secure the rack into the hitch anymore. The knob wont even do a full turn both ways as it locks tight but the anti-rattle doesnt move. Now, I cant even use the whole rack as the anti rattle is not tightening. The whole unit is useless and not sure how to fix it.

I would inspect the wedge of the anti-rattle device on your Thule Apex 5 Bike Rack part # TH9026 to see if maybe some dirt or corrosion is interfering with the operation of the anti-rattle device as it sounds like it is binding up for some reason. I spoke to my contact at Thule and she hadn't heard of this problem before so it's not something the rack is prone to doing. You might even try lubricating the anti-rattle device while trying to tighten and loosen it to see if you can get it to get it's full range back.
With the rack off your vehicle see if you can see where it is binding up while you try and tighten and loosen the knob.
