Anti-Rattle Device Recommendation for a 2-1/2 inch Hitch

Question:

seems like installation of the quiet hitch so that downward pressure is exerted on the hitch shank would be a better way to go since I understand that the 062 is really designed for flat towing. This way, the quiet hitch is not supporting the entire tongue wt of my trailer which is right at 1400 lbs. What do you think?? All the pressure of the trailer would be supported by the hitch itself and the 062 would just keep things from rattling up and to the side.

We've had customers have the U-bolt of the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches # RM-062 facing up and down and it has worked just fine. I would probably use it in the configuration you referenced. That way the # RM-062 isn't supporting the tongue weight of the setup.

Since this is only recommended for flat-towing setups you would be better of with the Blue Ox Immobilizer II part # BX88225 since this can be used for towing a trailer.

If your ball mount is hollow another you have is the XL Anti-Rattle Locking Hitch pin part # SHP2040-XL.
