Specs:
Note: Do not use for overhead lifting. This load binder is designed to work as part of a complete tie-down system. The overall capacity depends on the safe working load limit (WLL) of the chain(s) that you choose, as well as the capacity of the load binder itself. The item being tied down must not exceed the combined WLL of the lowest-rated components in the system.

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff, at etrailer.com. Today we take a look at this durable Ratcheting Binder, with the jaw and the grab hook fittings for 3/8 inch to 0.5 inch size chains. And this has a 12,000 pound Working Load Limit. Now ratchet chain binders will increase the tension in a chain until it's taught, using this twisting or ratcheting mechanism. The ratchet binders are often viewed as a safer option because they do not store as much energy in the handle. So it reduces the risk of recoil and harming the user.
And the ratchet binders have this lever, and the screw that's working together. Which means it takes less pulling on the handle to apply tension to the binder. So this is perfect for agricultural and industrial tie-down applications. The ratcheting mechanism right here makes it very easy to tension equipment. You can see it will allow you to safely remove the ratchet binder when you're finished.
And it has a lever right here on it that allows you to change the rotation. So right now you can see, it will go that way. If you push the lever down, ratchet the other way. So just depending which way you want to ratchet, just move your lever to that position. Now the handle length is about 15.5 inches.
Now on the one end, right here, we have an alloy forged 0.5 inch size grab hook and this will let you quickly connect to your chains. On the other end, is this jaw fitting, which will let you quickly connect to anchor points that can open. And these bearings do twist out. So they will extend, to provide extra reach when you're hooking the binder to equipment. The screw diameter on these is 1 inch.
Now the distance between these bearings. Right now I have it totally retracted or twisted in. So it's going to measure about 20.5 inches. If we fully extended out all the way, it has a take-up length of about 8 inches. So if we've measured it, then it'd be 28.5 inches. This is a nice steel construction. It's very durable. You can see they use a red paint finish on the barrel and on the handle. It makes it highly visible. And then on the ends, they're a nice yellow zinc finish on both the jaw and the grab hook. Now this does meet or exceed the FMCSA 40, the CHP, the CVSA, WSTDA and the Department of Transportation Standards. A few specs again. This is designed to fit chains with 3/8 inch to 0.5 inch thick links. Safe working load limit again, is 12,000 pounds. The proof load limit is 24,000 pounds. We mentioned the barrel length is 10 inches. Total weight on this is only about 13.6 pounds, but that should do it for the review on this durable ratcheting binder, with the jaw and the grab hook fittings for 3/8 inch to 0.5 inch size chains..
