2012 Honda Goldwing Motorcycle 5-Way Trailer Wiring Recommendation
Question:
My Goldwing is wired with a 5 pole wiring system and harness. When I build my trailer I just use a 5 wire system and harness, correct ? No special converters or setup. I just do not connect the blue wire.

The 5-way harness on your 2012 Honda Goldwing is a wiring setup that has separate turn signals from the stop lights. What that means is there is a separate brake light bulb from the turn signal bulb on either side of the trailer. The fifth wire on your bike's trailer connector is not a reverse light circuit so it will be needed. Typical trailer wiring has the stop and turn signals combined so only 4 circuits are needed.
You can wire up your trailer the same way and everything would be fine. You just would need to make sure you have a separate circuit for the brake lights and the turn signals.
You will just want to match whatever connector is on your Goldwing with what you install on your trailer.
Or you could cut off the 5-way on your bike and go with a part # HM37908 and then on the trailer go with a # 20017. You will just need to wire them both the same by function.
