Will Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System Work with 2014 Ram 3500 Towing 11,000 lb Trailer

Question:

Im looking to make another purchase for my trailer, the etrack I ordered last time was great. Ty I need a wd hitch with sway control, I have a class 5 hitch 2.5 x 2.5. Im limited by my trailer because the wiring box, battery and break away box seem to be in the way. I have attempted to move but going to be a long process to reroute all the wires that are in frame. On the driver side rail. I have included alms picks with a measuring tape starting at center of ball. My truck is a 2014 Ram 3500 Mega CAb, payload of 3900 for truck max towing of 17,000. I need 11000 trailer weight with 1000-1500 tongue.

Thank you for sending the photos they are very helpful. Based on the measurements in your photos, I think the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System with Dual Cam Sway Control, # RP66075, will work for you.

The snap up brackets should fit between your junction box and battery box. The center of the snap up brackets will sit between 31 and 32 inches from the center of the ball on the A-frame. There is only a small tapered portion of the snap up bracket that extends down the inside edge of the frame rail (about 1-1/2 inch) and I believe it will fit right between your two boxes.

The bigger area of concern is the dual cam sway control bracket, so we will want to take another measurement to make sure it will fit without hitting the crossbeam on your tongue. The dual cam pivot arm should be 19-3/8 inches away from the center of the ball, but this will be a diagonal measurement, not a horizontal measurement on the A-frame. I have attached a diagram that shows the measurements and dimensions of the Dual Cam sway control. You should be able to use these dimensions to measure on your trailer to see if the crossbeam on your tongue will interfere with the frame brackets of the Dual Cam sway control.

I have also attached the installation instructions and installation video for the Strait-Line system and the Dual Cam sway control for you to check out. If you find that this system will work for you, you will want to keep in mind that this system does not include a shank or a hitch ball. We have a shank that may work for you, # RP54977 which has a rise of 8-1/4 inches and a drop of 5-3/4 inches. I have attached a help article on how to determine the correct rise or drop for you to check out.

For a hitch ball, you can use any hitch ball with a shank diameter of 1-1/4 inches. For a 2-5/16 inch ball, I recommend # C40030.
