Recommended Cargo Carrier Compatible with 2007 Toyota Matrix XR
Question:
Recommendation for a 24x60 Trailer Hitch Mount Cargo Carrier for a 2007 toyota matrix xr

The Curt # C18151 cargo tray you referenced is only compatible with a Class III hitch with a 2 inch receiver opening. The hitches available for your Matrix XR are Class I or II that have a 1-1/4 by 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. There are adapters available that allow you to use a 2 inch accessory in a 1-1/4 inch receiver, but using them cuts the tongue weight capacity of the hitch (maximum amount of downward force that can be safely applied without damaging the hitch) by half. Also, the adapter adds another piece of equipment between the receiver and the accessory, which would cause the carrier to bounce around alarmingly.
If you don't already have a hitch, I'd recommend the Curt Class II receiver hitch, part # C12013. A good cargo carrier available for a 1-1/4 inch receiver would be the Curt # C18145 that measures 17x46 inches. I've linked you to a product demonstration video featuring the carrier.
