Hitch Receiver Lock Recommendations For Aftermarket Trailer Hitch

Question:

I am looking at buying the Bulldog Trailer Lock BD580402 or the RH5-XL but I am a bit concerned that the outside diameter that it has to fit is actually 2 9/16. The trailer hitch is an aftermarket purchase and I cant remember the manufacturer. If either of the locks will not fit can you please recommend a locking stainless steel locking pin that will? Regards

The Bulldog Lifelong Trailer Hitch Lock, part # BD580402, is designed to work with hitches that have a 2 inch by 2 inch receiver opening. The lock has a 5/8 inch pin diameter and will not work if the hitch outside dimension is bigger than 2-1/2 inches.

If you measure the outside dimension of your hitch and find that it is longer than 2-1/2 inches then the DeadBolt Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock, part # e98881 may work better for you. This is an extra long 5/8 diameter stainless steel pin that has a span of 3-5/8 inches, and will fit hitches that have receiver openings up to 2-1/2 inches.
