Recommendation for a Trailer Hitch Receiver and Wiring Harness on a 2014 Acura MDX

Question:

Hello I have a 2014 Acura MDX, and I need to install a trailer hitch and harness on it. Looking through your products, I like the Curt hitch, as it seems to be more recessed in than the Hidden Hitch model due to the connection piece extending down, rather than straight out from, the bar that runs across the width of the car and attaches to the pre-drilled holes in the frame. I am confident that I can install that hitch without too much trouble. Where I am less confident is being able to install the wiring harness. It looks like you have several wiring harnesses available that will do the job, though I have not seen an installation video on a 2014 Acura MDX for any such wiring harness. I believe that the 2014 MDX is pre-wired so that the harness can be plugged into the left rear panel, so that a wire does not have to be run up to the battery in the front of the car. However, I am unsure of this. If you have any information you could send me regarding the installation of a wiring harness on a 2014 MDX, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Best regards,

The Curt Class III Receiver Hitch, # C13146, is a great choice for your 2014 Acura MDX and offers maximum towing capacity of 6000 pounds and tongue weight capacity of 900 pounds. It is a good idea to check your owner's manual to obtain your vehicle's towing capacity and follow which ever has the lowest weight capacity rating.

The Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring Harness, # C56192, plugs directly into the vehicle's existing wiring and should be a pretty easy install for you. Before you begin the install you will want to disconnect the negative battery terminal. The next step will be to locate the left rear access panel on the vehicle. This is the only area where you will be making a wiring connection. I am including a link which will give you step by step instructions with pictures. This 4-pole harness will provide the brake and taillight functions on a trailer and you will not need to run any wiring to the vehicle's battery.

We also offer the Ball Mount, # C45010, 2 inch Hitch Ball, # 63845, or the 1-7/8 inch Hitch Ball, # 19260, that you may need to get you ready for towing.
