Recommended Tires for Pop-Up Camper

Question:

I have a pop up camper that is in need of some new tires. The ones I have on there now are Towmax S/T II Power King ST 205/75 D14 I found the Karrier brand in the same size and load rating but was wondering what other options you had available if any ? Thank you for your time

The Karrier ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10235 would be an excellent radial tire for your camper. We also have the Loadstar ST205/75D14 Bias Trailer Tire # AM1ST86 which, like your original tires, is a diagonal bias tire. The bias ply tire has a slightly lower weight rating (1,760 lbs at 50 psi).

I usually recommend using a radial tire over a bias tire. Because of the construction of a radial tire, the tire has more flex and will allow for more ground contact. That will improve traction and better tread wear. It also gives the radial tire better stability.

The radial tire will normally run cooler, if not overloaded, which will help the tire last longer, especially when the tire is under a load.

If you go to a radial tire, it is best to switch all tires to radial. Having one radial tire and one bias tire could cause tracking problems, even though they may not be very noticeable.

It is recommended to always run the max tire pressure in your trailer to provide the best performance and reduced wear. I have included links to 2 trailer tire FAQ articles for you.

I need tires and trims for my 1999 Colman pop up camper. 5.30-12 RIM 4.25 DOT R2C3 or B can't tell. Where can I get replacements and approximate cost. Thanks

We have a pretty large selection of 5.30-12 tire/wheel combos that will work well on your Coleman Pop-Up (I've linked them all below). If you have a 5 bolt pattern, I highly recommend teh Taskmaster # AT53012R45WS, which features a 1,050 maximum load at 80 psi and an excellent speed rating of 81 mph.
