Recommended 12 Inch Tires for Pop-up Camper Rated for 70 mph Crusing Highway Speeds

Question:

How can I determine the speed rating for popup camper tires? I have a popup camper that weighs somewhere around 1,800lbs. It handles well when towed at 70mph on the open highway, and I would like to find replacement tires rated for this speed. Im currently running Carlisle Sport Trail 5.30-12, but I dont think theyre supposed to go this speed. Can you suggest a tire, or tell me how to determine speed rating when looking at tires?

The speed rating should be on the sidewall of your tires unless it is the standard 65 mph max. The letter represents the following maximum:
J=63 mph
L=75 mph
M=81 mph
N=87 mph

For your tires, I recommend the Taskmaster 5.30R12 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range C # TT53012C. These tires have a speed rating of 81 mph max and are radials designed for best traction on highways. They are also rated for 1,050 lbs each at the proper inflation of 80 psi.

You may also need valve stems like # AM20904 rated for that psi.
