Can Vehicle Wiring Harness Be Connected to 12V Hot Wire in the Rear of 2012 Toyota RAV4
Question:
Im thinking about installing the wiring harness for my 2012 Toyota Rav-4 and have a question about running the wire from the battery. Im relatively familiar with vehicle wiring and was wondering if it is possible to run the power wire by tapping into my 12V terminals hot wire in the rear, rather than having to run a wire all the way from the front. I feel like this would help avoid it being subject to the elements we face here in MN. Thanks,

When installing a wiring harness like the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, # 118412, on your 2012 Toyota RAV4, you will want to follow the installation instructions.
When the wiring harness is wired according to the installation instructions, the vehicle's wiring system will not be exposed or put in jeopardy in the event of a short in the trailer's wiring or lighting. The T-One Harness has a powered ModuLite which isolates all of the power draw to the black power wire. This power wire must be connected directly to the battery in order to safe guard the vehicle's electrical system. If you were to tap into the 12V hot wire in the rear of the vehicle, it would defeat the purpose of a separate power wire and is not recommended.
I have attached a demo video of this harness being installed on a 2012 Toyota RAV4.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections including plugs and the 4-pole connector itself. Dielectirc Grease, # 11755, helps to prevent electrical failures caused by corrosion and moisture.
