Hitch Recommendation for 2012 Toyota RAV4 that Will Clear Rear Spare Cover

Ive got a 2012 Toyota Rav 4 and 4 bikes. Im looking at the Thule hitching post pro-folding tilting w/anti-sway, then a 2 hitch ideas for that one - they look about the same AND I have to clear a chrome bumper protector so need an extension for the hitch - so a few moving pieces. Suggestions?

The etrailer hitch part # e98864 is the best 2 inch hitch option for your 2012 Toyota RAV4 unless you wanted to go with a more concealed looking hitch with the EcoHitch # 306-X7174 which does cost a little move but would only have the hitch opening visible underneath the bumper.

We had the chance to install the Thule Hitching Post part # TH934XTR on a 2012 Rav4 just like yours and we found it easily cleared the rear spare cover. I attached a review video for this for you to check out as well that shows the rack installed on the mentioned RAV4.

If you plan on carrying any womens or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Kuat Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
