The B and W trailer hitch # BWHDRH25189 for the 2002 GMC Sierra is indeed rated for use with weight distribution. We are in the process of updating the information but if you look in the specs section of the product page you will see that you can use weight distribution. I have also included a link to the installation instructions for you.
To choose a weight distribution system you will need to go by the total tongue weight of the set up. This is calculated by taking the tongue weight of the trailer when loaded and ready to tow and adding to that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.
I have linked some help articles on weight distribution and determining tongue weight for you.
