Replacement Chain U-Bolts and Bolt On Hangers For Reese Weight Distribution Hitch
Question:
Two questions about this WDH I already own it 1 The brackets that mount to the trailer frame will not work on my particular trailer using the bolt, or threaded set screw, to fasten it to the trailer frame. Is it better to bolt it to trailer frame using the existing holes in the bracket or weld it on? If mounted by welding where should the welds be? All the way around the edge of the bracket or just the vertical edges or something else? 2 Years ago I added the Dual Cam Sway Control which added pieces to the end of the lift bars using the U bolt mounting holes. I do not need to use that on this trailer so will be removing those pieces and mounting the chain to the bars with U bolts. Do you sell the replacement U bolts? I think I have misplaced the originals over the years. Thanks!

Typically when the frame brackets for the Reese Weight Distribution # RP66020 can't be used they switch to the Bolt On Hangers # RP58305. I have seen some weld the brackets onto the trailer but as Reese did not design the brackets to be used in that manner I cannot give you any details on how much of the bracket needs to be welded. It shouldn't take much but they need to be secured in place to not slide on the frame or lift from the top rail.
We do have the Replacement U-Bolts # RP58032 for attaching the chains to the spring bars.
