Will the Reese 5th Wheel Hitch # RP30922 Drop Right Into the Factory Pucks on a 2013 Ford F350 SRW

Question:

I own a 2013 F350 SRW short box with the fifth wheel prep package installed. Does the Reese RP30922 just right into the factory puck holes or whatever you call them?

Yes, the Reese M5 Series Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch, # RP30922, will drop right into the factory pucks on your 2013 Ford F350 SRW. Although it is a fit for your short box truck, this is a standard hitch and many people experience clearance difficulty when making turns unless the towed fifth wheel has a Sidewinder Pin Box.

If you plan on towing a fifth wheel trailer with a standard pin box, I would recommend the Reese Elite Series Fifth Wheel Hitch With Slider, # RP30144, which also drops right into the factory pucks. Slider hitches were designed to improve fifth wheel towing with short box trucks. A slider gives you additional clearance room that is needed when making sharp turns.

A less expensive option for a sliding hitch would be the Reese Fifth Wheel Slider Hitch with Adapter, # RP30084, # RP30156. Adapter is mounted by using the factory pucks and it locks in place. This gives you the above-bed base rails that you need to install a standard fifth wheel hitch.

The following formula should help you to determine which style hitch is right for you. Keep it mind that at least 4 inches of clearance is recommended to safely execute a 90 degree turn.

(A + B) - C = Clearance

A = Distance from center of fifth wheel hitch jaw (or center of front and rear pucks) to truck cab

B = Slider Travel (10 Inches for Recommended Sliders, Use Zero for Standard Hitch)

C = Width of trailer divided by 2 (to get half)

I have also linked a few videos that may be of help.
