Upgrading Suspension Components On A 2024 Surveyor Legend 240BHLE Travel Trailer
Question:
Hello etrailer, hoping you can help with some guidance. This item is one of numerous equalizer upgrade parts available for travel trailers. Is there is a good way to pair this with a suspension hardware upgrade kit, such as the MORryde kit, item #MR46ZR? Or do most of the equalizer upgrade options work with most other hard upgrade kits? Also, curious if you can help with how to these based on the trailer this will be for a tandem axle 2024 Surveyor Legend 240bhle? What are the measurements that I need to know? Thanks!

When replacing suspension components it's important to make sure each part matches the original dimensions of the prior component. Changing one measurement can throw off the rest of the suspension and lead to a bind up. To replace the equalizer you'll need to measure from center to center of the holes shackle strap bolt holes and then from the center hanger bolt hole down to the center between the shackle strap bolt holes.
I've attached a few diagrams I made below showing how to measure for each suspension component. With equalizers and leaf springs you'll also need to need to make sure the capacities match up to the axle capacity. While there isn't a specific angle that the shackle straps need to sit at the overall shape needs to be a "W" like I have depicted below. If they sit too far in or too far out the suspension can't fully travel when hitting bumps in the road and will bind up and typically damage either the shackle straps or the leaf springs. The manufacturer puts a lot of thought into suspension to match the size/weight of the trailer so just maintaining the same sizes will help prevent issues.
Most upgraded components can be used together, like the Road Armor Shock Absorbing Equalizer Kit # LC696740 and MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit # MR46ZR, but you'll need to just verify that the bolt sizes match up. The majority of lower capacity components tend to all use the same sizing so it's easier to mix and match.
I've attached a few installation videos below as well to help with understanding how everything works and how to complete the installation. If you have anymore questions or can get me some measurements on your current components then I'd be happy to help.
