How to Convert 13-Pin Euro Plug to US 7-Way

Question:

Hello. If my trailer has the EU 13pin connector, with all 13 pins in use all of them are used in the trailer, is it possible to convert the trailer to a 7 pin US connector? Or do any pins lose their function? And if so, which ones? Thank you

It is possible to convert your 13-pin connector to a 7-way. You will need the Curt 2 to 3 Wire Tail Light Converter # C56196 to combine the separate brake and tail lights you have now. You will also need the # H20042 you looked at which is 3' long or the # H20044 for 6'. The 7-way functions are as follows:

White Wire - Ground
Red Wire - Left Turn and Brake
Brown Wire - Right Turn and Brake
Green Wire - Tail/Running Lights
Blue Wire - Brake Power
Black Wire - 12 volt (hot lead)
Yellow Wire - Aux/Reverse Lights

Your typical 13-pin EU connector has the following functions:

1 - L/H Indicator (yellow)
2 - Fog Light (blue)
3 - Earth (white)
4 - R/H Indicator (green)
5 - R/H Sidelight (brown)
6 - Brake Lights (red)
7 - L/H Sidelight (black)
8 - Reverse Light (yellow or pink)
9 - 12 V Supply (green)
10 - Fridge (blue)
11 - Earth for Fridge (red, white/black or clear)
12 - Spare (brown, white/blue or beige)
13 - Earth for pin 9 (white or white/red)

You will want to double check the functions of these wires with a circuit tester like # PTW2993 or trace them since they may be slightly different. The brake lights and indicator lights will be combined, the sidelights will also be combined. The 12V fridge should be able to run on a separate wire directly to the battery using # 10-1-1 and you can also run a separate ground. That really only leaves the fog light and the spare without a connection.
