What Makes The Curt C77ER A Class 3 Hitch?
Question:
Curt hitch C77ER for 2023 Mustang Mach-E. What exactly makes this a class 3 hitch? is the 200 lb TW rating accurate?

That is a great question, and yes, the 200 lb TW rating is accurate. The Curt # C77ER is "technically" a class 3 hitch because it has a 2" receiver. The 200 lb TW rating and 2,000 lb towing weight is generally what you see on a class 1 hitch, but since the receiver is 2", it cannot be listed as class 1 or 2. The reason for the low weight rating is mainly because the 2023 Mustang Mach-E is really not meant for hauling weight, so you are limited by the vehicles capacity. This hitch is certainly a bit of an outlier when it comes to the usual hitch class designations.
We generally try not to use the class rating to describe a hitch, since a lot of hitches just like the Curt # C77ER can really blur the lines between class 1, 2 and 3. Weight capacity and receiver size are the main things to focus on.
