Recommended Wheelchair/Scooter Carrier With Ramp For A 2021 Grand Design 5th Wheel
Question:
I have a 2021 Grand Design Solitude 310GK-R that has a 2inch receiver on the back with no bumper. I want to carry a mobility scooter on the back. Will the Flint Hill Goods 30inch x 50inch Wheelchair Carrier w/ 60inch Ramp - 2inch Hitch Item FHG99ZR work for me? The hitch rating is 300 lbs and the scooter is around 100 lbs.

Hello Craig. I do have a solution for you, but the Flint Hill Goods Wheelchair Carrier # FHG99ZR is not recommended for use behind RVs, campers, or trailers. The ride on the back of a 5th wheel or RV is a lot more rough than on the back of a car or SUV and the carrier simply is not rated for this kind of use.
What I recommend using instead is the 32x48 Reese Steel Solo Cargo Carrier # PS10401-10402. This is made for a 2" hitch and is rated for 400 lbs, so more than enough for your 100 lb scooter. Also, the Reese carrier is rated for use on the back of RVs and 5th wheels.
